summary: Mitsuba didn't know why Kou felt the need to bring two 3DSs and matching Super Smash Bros. cartridges to the school at 9pm, but he certainly wasn't complaining.
—
Sometimes Mitsuba felt lonely, stuck in his boundary. On some days, he would wander the school. Maybe visit the freaky spider teacher, or (on an off day) maybe even go see Crazy Knife.
Other days, he would just lay around and absolutely not think about a blond exorcist with sharp teeth and a contagious smile. No, he would not think about sapphire blue eyes and the feel of two hands intertwined. Absolutely not.
Today was one of those days, though, where he would just float around the school. He eventually decided on going back to his boundary and gazing through all of the mirrors. Glancing into one, he found that the 3rd floor girls' bathroom was currently occupied with not only Crazy Knife, but also his daikon assistant.
And where daikons roamed, hella-lame traffic-safety earrings followed.
As if on cue, the cry of a spiky blond rang through one of the mirrors just outside the school entrance.
"Mitsuba! Hey, where are you?"
Said boy sighed in fond exasperation before leaning halfway through the mirror. He grinned coyly before gently hitting Kou's shoulder with one of his oversize sleeves.
"Hella-Lame, Traffic-Safety-Earring Boy! What's up?"
Kou blinked in surprise before pouting. "I told you not to call me that anymore!"
"Oops. Hey, what have you got there?"
The youngest Minamoto son shifted his gaze down to his arms, where two 3DSs lay, both of them filled with a Super Smash Bros. cartridge. He handed one to Mitsuba, who had fully stepped out of the mirror by now.
"I thought you might be lonely, so I brought a game for us to play!"
"Oh? And that is? Is it something pervy?! I knew it, you just wanted to—!"
Kou covered Mitsuba's mouth with a deadpan expression, utterly unimpressed. "It's Super Smash Brothers. Have you not heard of it?"
Mitsuba's mouth made an 'O' shape. He had heard of the game before, recalling a group of boys talking about it animatedly when he was still alive. From what he gathered, it was a game about different characters from different games coming together to fight each other. It sounded interesting, to say the least.
"No, I have. Why did you...?"
"I already said. I thought you might be lonely! So come on, let's play!"
—
The two boys had perched themselves on a set of stairs, where they had gone through the whole ordeal of connecting the two games, so they could play together. Kou beamed in victory when it finally worked.
"Alright, it connected! Let's play without computers for now, so you can get the hang of it. Choose your character, and I'll teach you how to play."
Mitsuba scoffed, claiming that he didn't need the help. He decided upon a small pink blob with big, blue eyes and lightly flinched when "Jigglypuff!" rang out from the device in a deep voice.
"Oh, Jigglypuff? Nice choice! I think I'm gonna go with my main, since I know 'im the best."
'Link!' was shouted with the same voice as Mitsuba's character was, and the battle had begun. Kou patiently taught Mitsuba the controls, and how the game worked.
"So, really, I just have to beat you up enough to launch you off the screen? That's it?"
"Yeah, and you see these little heads down here? Those are how many lives you have. You have to launch me for every life I have to win, you see?"
Mitsuba nodded, blushing a little at Kou's close proximity. He prayed the faint light from the 3DS wouldn't betray him. Kou nodded, and seemed to be done with his tutorial.
"Alright, I think you've got the hang of it. Do you want to fight now?"
"Uh... yeah, I should be good. I'll definitely beat you!"
Mitsuba definitely did not beat him. Or the time after that. Or the time after that. Or the time after that.
Eventually, Kou had them team up against some computers. Mitsuba did better this time (he was still playing as Jigglypuff, he didn't trust himself with another character), but he still died before a lot of the computers had. Kou reassured him that it was fine, really, he had just started playing, but Mitsuba still puffed out his cheeks in frustration.
"Hey, are you not having fun? We can play something else if you want. As long as you're not so lonely, right?"
Mitsuba blinked. Once. Twice. Then he burst out laughing, covering his mouth with his sleeves. Kou tilted his head in confusion, sporting a heavy blush from embarrassment. "W-What's so funny?"
The pink-haired boy wiped away a tear before patting Kou's back. "You're so stupid. If you wanted me to feel less lonely, all you had to do was stop by. You didn't have to go through all this trouble, though I know I'm too cute for you not to."
The exorcist gaped at him before smiling softly. "Oh."
Mitsuba found himself blushing again. "Yeah, oh."
Kou wrapped his arms around the photographer, gaming consoles set aside. He buried his head in his pink hair, closing his eyes. "Is this better?" He spoke softly, as if afraid to ruin the moment.
The other boy froze in surprise, before melting into the embrace. He closed his eyes as well, smiling into Kou's shoulder. "Yeah."
(Hanako and Yashiro would later find the two boys cuddling each other on the stairs, asleep in each others arms.)

haha I didn't know how to end this—
I started this a little late, oops.
Also, Kou is absolutely a Link main, you cannot tell me differently. I like Mitsuba as a Jigglypuff main, but Bayonetta and Kirby are also acceptable.
Anyways, yeah, enjoy.
