summary: Mitsuba's favorite color is pink, obviously. But blue is a very close second, not that he would ever admit it.

Mitsuba used to hate blue.

Pink is- has always been- his favorite color. It just makes sense; one look at him and you could tell. And blue was the very opposite of pink, so why would he like it?

When he was younger, more irrational, he used to refuse to use anything blue, which gave his poor mother a bit of a hard time. As he grew up, he started incorporating it into his daily life little by little, but it was still never one of the colors he liked. It was more like he tolerated it, for practicality's sake, as well as for his mother.

And then he met one Minamoto Kou, a boy with no practicality, who wore traffic safety earrings inside buildings and carried around an umbrella on cloudless sunny days.

His eyes were blue. Blue like the ocean, warm and comforting like a summer day. They were the cerulean of the sea, untainted and pure. Mitsuba found himself wanting nothing more than to drown there, to become part of the water.

Later, he would die and meet supernaturals like Tsukasa and Hanako, and people like Sakura, and Natsuhiko, and Yashiro. And he would be surprised every time Yashiro met Kou's gaze because wasn't she supposed to turn into a fish every time she touched water? So why wasn't she swimming in the cool depths of his ocean-colored eyes?

Mitsuba was never really fond of water, either, because it ruined his hair and, consequently, his entire girly image. But he wouldn't really mind losing his reputation if it meant staying with Kou and his bright, inviting eyes. Inviting like sirens calling out to sailors, drawing Mitsuba in with every emotion displayed.

Mitsuba hated blue, but he found himself liking it a little bit more every time he saw the ocean and a head of spiky blond hair.

idk what this is, I just like writing about Kou's eyes, apparently.
