“Where are we going John”, I asked.
“Well, first we are having dinner”, he said driving.
“So this is your car?”
“No. This is actually my sister’s.”
“And she let you use it? You said she was a cop right? Won’t she be mad?”
“Yeah. And no she won’t be mad”.
He then looked at me. “You really look very beautiful”. I smiled.
“You’re pretty handsome too.”
“Thanks for the compliment.”
After some time we arrived at Excello restaurant. Excello was the best at Devonsville. Even though Devonsville is a small town, Excello was like a five star restaurant. John got out of the car came out my side and held the door open for me.
“Aaahh, you’re such a gentleman”, I cooed.
After we entered the restaurant, John took me to a private table. He helped me take my coat off and we both sat down. He placed the order for us. “So tell me more about you” he asked.
“What do you wanna know?”
“I don’t know. Anything. Like what’s your favorite color or what your hobbies are.”
“I don’t have a favorite color. I don’t know it’s different each day. I don’t have any special hobbies.”
He kept asking me more questions about myself, my family and friends. I told him all about Katherine without specifically mentioning her. I didn’t want to make up a fake past life. I didn’t want to lie on my first date with John. You already did. You’re wearing a different body a voice said in the back of my mind. I started to feel guilty. Just then the waiter brought our order and we started to eat. The dinner was delicious. I didn’t notice that I must have been hungry as all my attention was on John. I ate all of it.
“Umm. It was delicious.” I said.
“Thanks. Glad that you enjoyed it”, he said.
After we finished our dinner, we came out of the restaurant. “Let’s take a walk”, John asked. “Sure”, I said and we walked. “So tell me more about you,” I asked.
“What do you want to know?”
' “You said your sister was a cop. Does she work here?”
“No, she doesn’t work here. She is a cop in Philadelphia and damn good one.”
“So what about you? What do you want to be?”
“Honestly, I haven’t figured that out. I am planning to get into college. Let’s see what the future holds.”
“I am sure you’ll figure it out,” I said.
“I hope so”, he paused for some time before he said “If I ask you a question would you answer me honestly”. I turned looked at him. What is he gonna ask now? My heart beat was raising. I have already kept a big secret by wearing a different face. The least I could do is to be honest with him now. “Sure”, I said.
