I woke up early the next morning and headed out to the stables where the horses were still sleeping. "Good morning everyone who is ready for some breakfast?" I started to open the stalls and feed the horses one by one. "Oh my gosh they are so cute when they are still sleeping." I heard someone say behind me. "Tina! Camille! I didn't hear you guys come in." I walked over and hugged Mr. and Mrs. 6foot4Honda. "Hey Julia. Yeah we walked out bikes here. We turned off the motors because Dan send out a group text asking us too." "Well that was very nice of him. So what are y'all up to today?" "We actually had a favor to ask." Camille said. "Sure what's up?" "Can you teach us how to ride?!?" Tina said excited. I laughed a bit. "Yeah sure. Let's just let these guys eat and then y'all can help me turn them out to the field except the three we will be using. Then I'll teach y'all how to ride." Tina was smiling so big and was so excited while 6Foot looked like he was just going along with it. "Camille since you are so tall we will have to put you on our tallest horse, Tar. He is 18.1 hands which just means he is 6'1". You are taller than him, but trust me it will feel tall. Tina I will put you on Story who happens to be one of our herd alphas." I finished feeding the horses. "If y'all wanna sit on the porch while they eat make yourselves comfortable." They walked over to the front porch to sit and I walked out and saw Rhiannon's car pull into the parking lot. "Good morning my love!" She said smiling as she walked over in jeans and her riding boots. "Hey they just started eating you may have to wait a while, but when she's done you can use Sadie. Just use the indoor ring because I'll be teaching in the outdoor ring." "You got it! I'll go ahead and start cleaning out her stall for you!" "Thanks girl." I said and she started working around the barn. The only people I really trusted to ride by themselves was Arlette, Kierstin, and Rhiannon. They knew how to ride and I trusted their skill. They often went together on trail rides when they were all in town. They sat on the front porch and I joined them as Alex walked out and stretched. "Good morning!" He said. "Morning sleepy head." "Where's everyone else?" He asked looking around. "Well I assume still asleep. Can you grab my guitar?" He nodded and walked inside to get my guitar as I saw the sunrise start to peak over the hills. He came back outside and handed me the guitar. "You practicing anything specific?" he asked me. "Nah just practicing. I find guitar is harder for me than piano is." I said as I strummed some random chords on my guitar. "Yeah, but once you know how to play guitar then the other stringed instruments tend to come easier to you." He said sitting next to me. Will was the next person to walk out of the house. "Good morning." I said chuckling with my guitar resting on my lap. "Well I had to get some sleep before I left." "You're leaving?" "Yeah. I've got to get back to Australia." "You're from Australia?" Tina said looking at him. "Yeah. Best place on earth." He said smirking as Camille wrapped an arm around Tina protectively. Will turned and looked at me. "You going to see me off?" I looked at him and he smirked. "Nah I think you can find your way to your own car." I said smirking. "If you can't you've got some problems." "And here I thought you loved me." Will said chuckling as he walked down the stairs. "You sure you weren't talking to yourself in the mirror again?" I said laughing. Will gave Alex a bro hug. Then looked at me. "So no goodbye?" He said holding his arms open. I rolled my eyes and shook my head as I walked over and hugged him. "Be safe." I whispered. "You too." He said and let go before he walked off. I watched him get into his car and drive off. I sat back down and Tina leaned forward. "Who was that he was cute!" "Hey!" Camille said. "He's just a friend." I said. "Come on the horses should be ready to exercise." We all rode and I taught them how to. They seemed to be having a fun time with it and after riding for a while I decided to head to the meet up with them. Once at the meetup I was surprised to see how many people were there. It was a little overwhelming, but I just stayed close to Camille and Tina. Eventually we found our little group and we all paired off. An all too familiar blue and red bikes came riding around the corner with two females on the backs. I keep my visor down as they rode over to our group. "Hey guys you finally made it!" Dan said excited. "Thank god I thought the girls would never shut up!" Zach said as we all hooked up through the Senna. I tried to stay quiet and not say much. The Senna could only hook up a few people so we turned it off and just talked through our helmets while we sat there. "Man this is so cool we've got Chaseontwowheels, Do It With Dan, Jake the Garden Snake, Walteriffic, Motonosity, Downshift, HunterHonda, 6foot4Honda, and..." he froze after seeing me. He didn't have to guess who I was because he knew my bike and the gear I wore. "And Suppose." Chase said finishing his sentence. "I'm gonna go warm up my wheels. Hunter you wanna come with?" "Yeah." He said looking like he would do anything to get out of the awkward conversation. I rode off and in my rear view I could see Zach take off his helmet and stare after me. As I rode I did some wheelies and tricks before I pulled off to the side. "What was that all about?" Hunter asked. "Zach is my recent ex boyfriend." "How recent?" "Two weeks and he's here with his fiancé." "Ooo." I could hear Hunter physically cringe. "I'm sorry." "Yeah I am too. It still hurts but you know what they say...if you love them you gotta let them go." Hunter and I headed back to the group where people were pairing off. I made my way over to Walter. "Looks like it's us." I said. "Yep. The tallest guy and the tallest girl. Seems fitting." I laughed and parked my bike next to his. I saw the rest of the group were taking their helmets off, but I decided to keep mine on. "Don't want fresh air?" Walter asked taking his helmet off. "Nah just don't want people to see my face when I judge them." He laughed. Zach walked over with a really pretty girl. I pulled a $20 from my bag and turned to Walter. "Hey could you grab some waters for us before we go?" "Yeah sure, but keep your money the gentleman always pays." I laughed and put my money away as he walked off. I took a deep breath and silently prayed as I took off my helmet. "Zach." "Julia." "I hear congratulations are in order." "Thanks." He said. "This is Amber my fiancé." I held out my hand and forced a smile on my face. "Hi. I'm..." "Julia...I know." She said softly. "It's a beautiful ring." I said gesturing to Ambers engagement ring. She held it out so i could look at it and I smiled. "It's beautiful." "Thank you." She said smiling. They both seemed genuinely happy and I think that's what killed me the most. "Why'd you come over here. I'm sure you would've found better company with Chase and Luara." "Because I wanted to talk to you." Zach said. I nodded and sat back on my bike. "Okay." I said sitting there looking up at him. "Babe can you give us a minute?" He said looking at Amber. "Why you don't trust her with what you want to say?" I said looking at her. "Marriage means no secrets right?" I said and she looked like she was agreeing with me. "Okay...suit yourself." He said which kind of made me annoyed but I tried to ignore it. I knew he was probably going to go on some rant about how I messed up and we had a good thing going and bla bla bla. "First off I wanted to say I'm sorry." I smirked and shook my head. "Sorry? What do you have to be sorry about?" "For breaking your heart." I laughed and he looked confused. "Don't flatter yourself. You didn't break my heart. It was a mutual ending." "It didn't feel that way." He said looking at the ground. "How long huh? How long did you really take before you flung yourself at another woman? Was that all I was to you? A fling? Why this sudden rush? Why?" I got off my bike and stood in front of him. "Were you not happy? Did we not have a good time? Was I not good enough? Did you even really love me?" I had realized that I was yelling, but when I got upset enough that's how I reacted. I was angry that we didn't make it work. I was angry that the ring was on her hand and not mine, but in the end that's what i wanted right? Not to be married and settle down? I was only 21 could you blame me? "I do love you." I noted how he said it in the present tense. "And I always will. You were good enough for me. Too good. We had fantastic times together and I was happy. Amber and I were high school sweethearts and we dated before I dated Cassie. We reconnected some time after our breakup and it continued on to where we are now. If it makes you feel better I slept at Chases house and spent the entire week doing nothing but crying myself to sleep. Missing you and wanting you there with me. Wishing you had said yes. You're young and have a full life ahead of you. I was ready to settle down and have some kids and I didn't want to force you into that. You weren't ready and I was. We were simply two people meant for each other in the wrong time. That doesn't mean that I will stop caring or stop trying to be your friend. I hope one day maybe long down the road we will still be able to call each other up and check up on each other." I walked forward and hugged him. He wrapped his arms around me and I felt tears running down my face. I was hurting but after hearing all this I could feel the pain start to ease away. He gently kissed the top of my head and hugged me until I was the one who pulled away. I wiped my eyes and that's about when Walter came back with the waters. I took a sip to get rid of the lump in my throat as I fixed my hair back. I held out my hand and looked up at him with a genuine smile. "Someday?" He smiled and shook my hand. "Someday." And with that we both climbed on ur bikes and the whole group joined with the rest of hundred bikers to ride the streets. Walter and I got to know each other and we had a good time at the meet up. After we all met back up people started going their separate ways. "Allow me to drive you home?" "Nah I don't live too far from here. I rode here on Lil' mama and I'll ride her back." "Then at least allow me to go with you and make sure you get home safe?" "Okay you've convinced me." I said smiling and we drove off down the road to my place. It only took about 20 minutes for us to get from the meet up to my house. We rode down the long driveway and pulled up in front of my house. The girls were on the front porch hanging out and talking. I pulled lil' mama into the shed and closed it. I hugged Walter. "Thank you kind sir for the escort." He towered over me and besides Camille he was one of the tallest guys I knew. He was just s gentle giant though. "Hey I live in Maryland which isn't too far from here. You ever need a riding partner all you have to do is call." "Same to you." I said and waved as he drove off. I took off my helmet and flipped my sweaty hair over my head. I shook our my helmet hair before flipping my hair back over. "How'd it go?" Kierstien asked. "Well Zach was there with his fiancé. She was actually really nice and he and I were able to talk things through. I think we're good now." I said feeling relieved for some reason. "Well that's good." Kierstien said. "So what are y'all doing out here? Plotting, scheming, conniving?" They all laughed and I folded my arms across my chest. "We were just thinking of all of us taking a vacation." Rhiannon said. "Where to?" I asked. "Australia. Some of Alex's family is there and he wants to show us around New Zealand. See where Lord of The Rings was filmed." "And maybe see someone else?" Arlette said wiggling her eyebrows. "My own friends conspiring against me. I'm out matched! Out numbered! This is unfair!" Tank and Bear laid at their feet. "Even my dogs?! I'm hurt! I'm wounded!" I dropped to my knees and laid down as the dogs started licking my face. I heard the girls clapping and I just rolled my eyes as I got up. "Okay okay I have to adjust some things around here and then we can go." I said and the girls stood up excited. "I already got Rachel and Victoria to take care of everything. Robin will drop by when needed. We packed a bag for you let's go!!" Kierstien said excited and i just rolled my eyes as I allowed them to drag me to a car with them and all our stuff and eventually to a red eye to Australia. We landed and I hadn't slept at all. I was exhausted and the girls were of corse filled with excitement. As we were walking out of the airport a woman in a strange dress with feathers in her hair and markings on her face stopped us. I looked up to see Alex and his family standing in a line with Alex in the front. "What are they doing?" Kierstien asked. "A haka. If you don't know Maori stay back enough for a respectful distance." I stepped forward and nodded to Alex as he smiled. Alex raised his voice and yelled in the Maori language. "Ki aro Kia whakaronga, kia." Everyone in his family including myself dropped down into a squatting position. "Hi." Was everyone's response. "Ringaringa e torona kei waho hoki mai!" We all held out our arms and the boys hit their chest while the girls slapped their thighs. "Tika tonu!" Alex yelled. "U-e!" Was the response. "Tika tonu!" "U-e!" We all were yelling at this point as I joined in with his family in the haka. "Tika tonue atu ki a koe, e tama. Hiki nei koe akue whakaaro, pakia! He hiki aha to hiki? He hiki roa to hiki? I a ha ha! I stood up straight as Alex came over and rested his forehead against mine which was a sign of respect in the Maori culture. I then did the same with his grandparents and parents. His siblings greeted me with a smile and handshake. Alex turned to me and his sister stepped forward holding a box open. Alex pulled a beautiful carved Jade necklace from the box and held it in front of me so I could see the pendent.
