Logic's POV
I woke up to the sun in my face and stretched before rolling over and looking at my clock. It was 7 am which wasn't normal for me to wake up at that time. I didn't mind farm life, but it wasn't like I was actually learning anything here. I was supposed to be given one animal to connect with and take care of particularly. Julia was supposed to tell me today and the boys were supposed to join with us today, but I wasn't quite sure how any of this was supposed to help my music writing. I showered and got changed really quickly before heading downstairs to see what was around for food. When I got downstairs no one was in the kitchen which was strange. Then again it was 7 am. The only person who would be up was Julia. I looked out the kitchen window to see that the barn lights were already turned on. I assumed she was working on feeding the horses. I saw that coffee was already made and made myself a cup of coffee. I headed outside and walked to the barn, but she wasn't there. I heard her talking and whistling. I walked around the back of the barn to see a smaller arena had been set up with poles and jumps. I saw her running alongside the set up with Bear running around the track. Then Bear ran over to her and laid in between her legs as she used a fake gun to do different protective maneuvers. Bear worked with her through the course. I hadn't known that any of the dogs were specially trained, but then I guess I never really asked. I walked over and watched for a bit. It was a while before I heard a set of tires pull into the parking lot. I looked over and saw my friend Nate get out of the car.

"Hey bro!" I said as I walked over and bro hugged him. "Thanks for suffering through this hell with me." I said and he hugged me back.

"Where are we cause even my GPS is confused." he said and I laughed.

"Some wacko place called Safe Haven. I don't know my manager is forcing me to be here."

"Doesn't sound fun. Hey I asked around like you wanted me too. Sounds like the woman that runs this place is a real hard ass." Nate said and I heard a throat clear behind me. We both turned to see Julia standing there with her arms crossed over her chest.

"That's Miss Hard Ass to you Nathan." She said and he nodded slowly as he looked between Julia and I.

"Glad to see you both up and ready to work. Nathan there is a spare room towards the back of the house. Pick one and whichever one you don't choose Corpse will end up taking when he gets here tonight. While he is doing that Bobby I have your task ready for you. Follow me." We both looked at each other before following her into the house. Nate found his way towards the back of the house while I followed Julia to a door that read Reptile Room and was very uneasy about how this was going to go. She opened the door and asked me to close it behind me.

"Welcome to our reptile room. Now I usually don't let people in here, unless I know I can trust them with the responsibility of the reptiles. It's bad if a horse get's out, but on a horse farm it's worse if the reptiles get out. We'd have a stampede on our hands and we don't want that. Now the reptile I am trusting you with is one of my very first snakes." She walked over to one of the enclosures and slowly opened the glass by pushing it back. She reached into the enclosure and held out her arm as a pure smooth black snake slithered it's way up her arm and across her shoulders.

"This is Waffles. He is a Black King Snake. Completely harmless and venom-less. He's a lot bigger than the other snakes so he eats a lot more food then the other's do, but if you don't mind him then he won't mind you."

"You have pet snakes? I was just told this was an animal rescue and I assumed it was only for horses. I assumed I was going to be working with the dogs or horses, but you have me working inside with the reptiles? How is that work?"

"Well the reptiles take a longer time to work with because they don't trust people easily like horses do. Also because they only need their enclosures cleaned out every 3 days and are fed every 3 days. They need a bath at least once a month and they shed at least once a month. Working with the snakes allows them to get used to you. They are all still in the recovery process, but until further notice Waffles is going to be your therapy animal. Now hold out your hands."
