Jay's POV

I stare at the two red strings tied to my pinky. One was connected to some girl from school, the other was connected to one of my best friends. Cole. I look at the string grimly, not knowing if I should be happy or not.

"Jay? You ok?" I look up to see Kai and Lloyd.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine." I smile.

"Are you sure? You were staring at your hands again.." Lloyd says in a worried tone.

I hadn't told any of my friends I could see everyone's red string, I didn't want to ruin our friendship. I nod, looking down at there hands. I had a habit of checking the strings of my friends. As I looked, I gasped, covering my mouth with my hands.

"A-are you ok?" Lloyd asks worried, sitting down beside me.

I nod slowly. There was only one string left on both Kai and Lloyd's pinky... And they connected to each other's pinky.

"I need to tell you two something..." I say looking at Lloyd.

"Go ahead! There's nothing stopping you!" Lloyd says cheerfully.

'I can see everyone's red string..." I look away.

"W-wait, what?" Kai asks.

"I can see everyone's red string..." I say just above a whisper.

I look back at the two.

"That is so cool!" Lloyd yells at me. "Who's my soulmate?"

I laugh.

"Well, you did start with a couple of strings, yesterday you had three and now you have one." I look up at Kai who was looking away. "Lloyd, your soulmate is Kai."

"Really?" Lloyd squeaks.

Kai looks at us with a shocked expression. All of a sudden, I feel something on my finger move. I look down to see only one string. Shocked, my eyes follow the string, only to see it was connected to Cole, who was walking right towards us.

"So~ Who's your soulmate?" Lloyd asks, teasingly, his eyes following my gaze. "Hmmm...? I see..."

I look at him, fear in my eyes.

"I... I need to go." I quickly get up and run home.

-Time skip-

the next day, as soon as I got to school, Lloyd immediately ran towards me.

"Why'd you leave so early yesterday?" He asks.

I just shrug.

"I don't want to talk about it," I mumble.

"You know you can tell me anything right?" Lloyd asks, concerned.

I nod.

"Come to my place after school? I'll tell you then." I say.

He nods happily, as our other friends come to join us.

"Did you guys study for the maths test?" Cole asks.

"There was a maths test?!" I screech.

The others chuckle.

"Don't worry Jay, we'll help you, besides the tests in the last period." Cole laughs.

My face heats up instantly, I take a look at my pinky, the red string still connected to cole's finger.

"Jay? are you ok?" Nya asks me.

I nod, my eyes still on the string attached to my finger.

"Uh, is there something wrong with your finger?" Cole asks, looking at his own finger.

"D-don't worry about it Cole, I'm fine," I assure him. "Let's get to class."

-Time Skip (Again)

"Come on Jay! something is obviously bothering you!" Lloyd whines as he lays on my bed.

I sigh, not knowing what to say.

"I'm scared, Lloyd." I finally say.

"Scared of what?" He asks, curiously.

"I don't know if cole even likes guys! what if he doesn't like me!" I wail.

"And why wouldn't he like you?" Lloyd asks.

"I-I don't know. I'm just scared he won't!" I exclaim.

"Who won't what?" A voice comes from the doorway.

"Gah! Cole? What are you doing here?" I ask nervously.

"Oh, your mum let me in. I just came to check on you, but looks like somebody already beat me to it." He looks at Lloyd, his eyes filled with...

I try to read what his face was saying.

'Jealousy?' I thought, surprised.

Lloyd laughs.

"Don't worry Cole, I think Kai needed me for something anyway." He chuckles, getting up and leaving the room.

Cole sits down next to me, all the jealousy had gone.

"So, uh... I have to tell you something..." He says.

I cough.

"U-uh, yeah?" I ask nervously.

Cole looks away from me and out of my window.

"I'm hoping this won't ruin our friendship but-"

I watch him intensely.

"B-but?" I ask.

"I-I ate the last cookie." He looks back at me, a goofy grin on his.

"Cole!" I whack him with my pillow. "I thought it would've been something important!"

He chuckles then looks out the window again.

"That wasn't the only thing I was going to say." He laughs softly.

"Hmph." I cross my arms, not really believing him.

"As I was saying, I hope this won't ruin our friendship, but-" he looks at me. "I think I like you, Jay. Wait no, I know I like you."

I look down at my hands, the red string still there, but my hands had colour! I look around, seeing colour for the first time, before looking back at Cole. My eyes filled with tears, threatening to fall.

"A-are you crying?" Cole asks, concerned.

I nod happily.

"I can see colour, Cole!" I laugh. "I can finally see what everything looks like!"

"W-wait, what?" He asks, his eye's now filled with tears.

"I like you too, Cole!" I hug him tightly, tears of joy running down my cheeks.

He immediately hugs me back, before pulling me into a soft, slow kiss. it tasted of salty tears, but it still felt amazing.
