Finally, those large board-like objects stopped falling from the sky. We were in the clear and still in one piece as we keep driving on the highway. I couldn't say the same for the others. The marine recruits were dead, all of them. They were fucking dead. Or at least my whole unit was. I didn't know if the rest survived. Danielle handed me a towel to stop the bleeding on my arm. Then I grew nervous. What if my mom didn't make it? What if she's...she's gone?

I was not allowed to have my mobile phone with me at US Marine bootcamp and like everyone else had to turn it in. Then a beep went off somewhere. Danielle took out her tablet from her coat and looked at it." "Oh my God, those weird objects are now falling in Virgina." My heart started beating that was where my mom was. So I asked Danielle if I could borrow her phone so I could call my mom. She said, "Sure why not." She unlocked the password on her mobile phone and handed it to me. I went through the contacts, dialed my mom's phone number, and waited. The first time I heard only her voicemail. So I tried again and again until finally she answered. "James? Aren't you supposed to be at bootcamp?" I replied, "Mom, listen to me, are you at home?" "No, but I'm heading there now, I just finished my groce-" "Don't go back home, it's not safe. You're life is in danger!" "Danger? What are talking about?" For a while I thought, "Damn, how do I explain this?" "OH SHIT!" screamed Danielle. "What is it Danielle?" asked Derek. "James, I need my phone back. NOW." I said to my mom, "Mom, I don't have time to explain right now. You have to trust me. No matter what happens, don't go home. I love you and I'm with an old friend. Bye."

As I handed Danielle back her phone, Derek asked, "Hey James, where did you say we should go to get that video footage?" "Holiday Inn and Suites at Beaufffff-,  I started to feel dizzy and my vision turned blurry and clear. "Kid, are you right?" I lifted the towel off my arm looked at it. I replied in a distorted voice, "It'sssss noothiiiinn, Im fffffffffffffffff-," But I fainted in the car.

My eyes opened halfway as I heard some echoing voices.  Then I felt myself being lifted out of the car and onto a gurney. "Be careful with him, he's injured!" cried Derek. They were nurses and docors coming to move me inside. After being placed on the gurney, I felt myself being pushed by the medics across the bumpy pavement, under the blinding sunlight, and bursting into the front doors of the hospital. "Quick! move him to the operating room." I turned my head and peeked at Danielle and Derek in the waiting room. "You're gonna all right, friend," Danielle called out. I looked back at the ceiling lights and I keep breathing, then I passed out.

I woke up the next morning, to find myself on a hospital bed in a small room with IV tubing attached to my left arm. My right arm was all bandaged, and there a small package on the table next to the bed. I looked at it and it was for me. Before I could take the package, the door opened and in stepped a doctor, holding records on a clipboard, who said, "Good morning James." he was a middle aged man with white hair and wore a white lab coat and glasses. "How do you feel?" "It still hurts, Doctor err..." "Weber, Doctor Weber, he said. "Are we safe in here from-" "Oh yes, Dr. Weber interrupted. "Your FBI friend, Danielle and that other guy let us know and showed us proof." "They also told us that if we notice whatever is falling at us, we are prepared to evacuate you and the other patients out of the hospital." Then he showed me a small device. "It tracks whatever coming at us." Oh and before they left the hospital, they left you a surprise on that table. "I grabbed the small package, ripped off the paper, and it was just a mobile phone and there was a note. I unfolded it and it read: "James, just to let you know that we have gone to FBI headquarters in Washington DC and will head to Holiday Suites and Inn back in South Carolina in Beaufort to retrieve your camcorder when you're ready. I am also letting you borrow my phone. The password is T950. Please be careful with it and let us know how you're feeling. Oh, and we left you some fresh clothes on the chair in front of your bed, as your marine uniform was too tattered to be worn again and we already paid for your stay. Get well soon. Sincerly, Derek. PS, No Gaming or Social Media on my phone."

After a successful physical examination, I was great and fit to go. I had Dr. Weber help me with getting my new clothes on as my arm still was aching. My clothes were red t-shirt, blue jeans and a belt. I still wore my heavy uncofortable military boots but it didn't matter. They were still better that nothing. I checked myself out of the hospital and exited the front doors.
