My name is Dubai before being Dubai I was Eliza Kim. An international student from the United States, I was studying to be a doctor. I came from a good family, with good morals. I traveled to Spain to experience the culture. I was already thousands in debt from schools, that debt would have stuck with me until the day I died.
Technically I was a doctor but not legally. I studied and graduated from the University of Barcelona. I had a good life, it all became a shit show when I was a medical intern. In the beginning, it was fun and games until someone got caught.
I was a solo player in the industry, slowly draining Europes casinos. How did I trick these casinos? By counting cards. Counting cards is not illegal, casinos just don't like losing large amounts of money. Hopping from casino to casino on weekends, I could bring in over two hundred thousand Euros. A few tricks here and there helped along the way of winning. I was told I had sticky fingers, the slightlest of things people don't notice. Watches and wallets were easy targets, steal and pawn.
What really landed me in jail was the illegal harvesting of organs. The whole hospital in Spain was in on the black market dealings. I was only an intern, not even a resident. We didn't killed anyone on purpose during operations, but if they happened to died, we took the organs even if they weren't an organ donor. No one could tell if a corpse was missing a lung or heart. But the police got suspicious, secretly investigating the black market operations. The senior staff of the hospital threw the interns under the bus to preserve their reputation. I along with a handful of other interns were collateral damage to the hospital. I went to prison in Spain for a year, my sentence was reduced because of good behavior.
I couldn't return home because of my record. My parents who lived in California, disowned me. It was just me left.
But I guess old habits die hard.
