It was the afternoon of the day the church camp was supposed to start. Norm had packed for me after looking at my "sad attempts" of outfits for the week. At the time I was wearing capri length blue jeans and a simple light blue T-shirt that had clouds on it to make it look like the sky.
There was a knock at the door. "He's here!" I yelled even though Norm was right there. Amelia had already let him in. I waved as I walked into the kitchen where he was waiting.
I said goodbye to my false parents and climbed into my false boyfriends car. I sighed as he slid in the drivers seat. "What's wrong?" He asked, looking worried.
"It's nothing." I said quickly, realizing my mistake.
"It's not nothing, it's never nothing." He pulled out of his spot on the curb.
"Fine." I figured I had to tell him something. "Do you ever feel like all of this is kind of, I don't know, unreal?"
"No, why?"
"Well, it's just that my old life was so screwed up and really just bad that this life feels like a dream, and I'm really scared to wake up and everybody and everything will be gone, you, my parents, everyone." I told him before that I just found my parents after being adopted by the academy, so I moved here with them because my dad had a job thing.
"Well, I'm definitely not a dream, so you don't have to worry about me going anywhere." He smiled at me. I wished what he was saying were true, but in reality I would be his down fall.
We arrived and the church was a big rectangular brick building, not like what I was expecting it to look like at all.
Everyone there knew Morgan. They all waved to him or hugged him (a lot of girls flirted with him, causing me grab his hand to hold by instinct) as we walked in the door. Inside there was a table with a bunch of shirts and draw string bags on it. Behind the table would be a very large intimidating looking guy if he didn't have a huge welcoming smile on his face.
"This is my youth pastor, Trey." Morgan said.
"Hi, it's Iz, right?" He waved sort of awkwardly.
"Yes, nice to meet you." I gripped Morgan's hand for support, I didn't want to mess this up.
"You guys can find a shirt in your size, grab a bag and head up to where you will sleep. Iz, you and all the rest of the girls will be in the youth room, if you wait a second Amy, who is behind you, can show you where that is. And of course, Morgan you know the drill, you will sleep in the sanctuary with the other guys." Trey explained. His voice was surprisingly high.
"Yep, see ya later Iz." And just like that, he disappeared.
Amy was a blonde wavy haired girl. She was medium height and had dazzling blue eyes. She smiled at me. "You're Iz, Morgan's girlfriend, right?" She asked and I nodded. "You're all he ever talks about, like ever. He's more like a brother to me, but I think you might have some issues with some certain other girls getting jealous." She gestured towards a group of pretty giggling girls a few spots behind us.
"Oh, I'm sure it's nothing I can't handle." I smiled.
Amy finished signing in and led me up a flight of stairs, down a hallway, up another flight of stairs, and through another hallway until we got to the youth room. It was a big room with black floors and a white ceiling. There were girls with their sleeping bags laid out everywhere you looked.
