Dancing around the living room
Smiling at the man that loved me the most
Spinning me around while I step on his feet
"Teach me to dance Daddy"
"One day baby"
Crying in my room, music loud
Soft knock comes to my door
"Baby? What's wrong"
Grabbing my hand he stands me up
Putting my head on his shoulder, swaying
Crying more smelling his shirt for comfort
"Teach me to dance Daddy"
"One day baby"
Smiling ear to ear when daddy visits
Prom around the corner
"Teach me to dance Daddy"
"One day baby"
"I need your help, please Daddy"
"Not today"
Laying in the hospital bed,
Skin and bone
Hardly looks like my Daddy
Heart breaking in my chest
"Daddy, you still need to teach me to dance"
"I'm sorry baby, I can't"
"You promised," tears flowing down my face
"I know baby, I'm sorry"
Days run out
Still sick and in bed
Sleeping
I whisper one last time
"Teach me to dance Daddy"
