Eden's POV:i woke up to the feeling of being squashed. i squint my eyes and look up to see the face of my best friend, Ellie, peering down at me. The look on her face tells me she has something big planned.
"ugh ellie get off me" i whine as i pull the covers over my head
"uhhh how are you not excited, eden, tomorrow is your 16th birthday, and you get to see how far away your soulmate is!"
"yes, ellie, i know. i'm not really excited. my soulmate could be miles away, he might not even live in sydney." i stated "now get off"i sigh as she rolls off me. it was a bad idea letting her stay the night, she always wakes up too early.
"it sucks that your birthday is on a Monday though" she says while we lay on our backs, staring at the ceiling. which reminds me, tomorrow is the first day of school after summer break, and today is sunday.
"ellie get up! we have one day of freedom left before we go back to hell, we must savour it while it lasts"
we get up and scramble to get changed while glancing at the clock. it's only 8am, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the day.
"let's go to the amusement park, then we can go to the beach" ellie suggests as she walks into my room after getting changed.
"yeah sounds great" i saywe walk out the door and drove to the amusement park.
after the short trip, we stepped out of the car and the sound of children screaming and laughing filled the air.
ellie grabbed my hand and dragged me through the crowd, straight towards a high roller coaster.{Time Skip}
after a morning full of riding roller coaster after roller coaster, and spending a lot of money at the arcade, our throats were sore from screaming and our pockets were nearly empty.
"jeez i'm starving, let's go get some food" ellie declared as she leaned against a wall, out of breath.
"agreed" i replied as we started making our way towards the food stalls.
after buying food, we walked around with hotdogs and rainbow slushies in our hands. as we were heading for the exit i saw a way too familiar face.Ruel. my arch nemesis. our parents were friends, and we used to be so close, but then he ruined everything.
it started out with him blowing out MY candles on MY 7th birthday. after that, everything got so much worse. he turned our friends against me.
ever since then we have been sworn enemies and nothing has changed to this day. i knew seeing him and his snobby, rich friends would already ruin my day, so i decided to mess with him.
he hadn't seen me yet, so as he was passing by me and ellie, i said "how's the weather up there?"
i knew he absolutely hated it when people said that to him, which is why i said it.
he turned around with anger pasted on his face. he knew it was me who said it.
"morning eden, i hope you have a great birthday tomorrow" he said with sarcasm dripping from his voice "do you want me to come by and blow out the candles for you again?" he asked in a baby voice. his friends behind him snickered.
"jesus Ruel, are you always an idiot? or do you just show off when i'm around" i replied.
he glared at me before leaning forward and knocking my rainbow slushie out of my hands. the freezing rainbow liquid ran down my shirt as i stood there with my mouth gaping open.
"that's it" i hiss under my breath as i grab my hotdog and rub the mustard and tomato sauce all over his white shirt. i smirked, satisfied with my artwork, before grabbing ellie's hand and leading her out of the amusement park. i turned back to see ruel standing there, an angry look on his face, his white shirt now red and yellow as people stared at him as they walked past.i seriously hope my soulmate is nobody like him.
