Sonic POV

Shadow fell asleep crying onto my shoulder. I gently placed him on the couch.

I than got an idea.

"if this doesn't make you happy, nothing will..."

I got out of the house and left a note before I went outside.

I ran towards Silvers and Mephiles' house.

I knocked on the door as soon as I got there.

The door was opened by Mephiles. He was in a oversized shirt and his quills were a big mess.

"oh, hi Sonic"

"Hmm, hey. Can I talk to Silver?" I asked and he nodded and stepped aside to let me in.

I walked to his room and opened the door. He was laying to the bed and looking through his phone.

"hey,Silver" I said and sat by him on the bed. He was okay until he looked at me.

His eyes were red and puffy from crying.

"Silver?!"

"sorry..." he apologized and wiped the tears away.

I grabbed his hand and stopped him.

"what's the matter?" I asked him and he buried his head in his hands and started crying again.

"M-M-Mephiles..." he said and pointed at the drawer.

I opened it and saw a stack of papers.

He bent over and got one of them. He showed it to me.

Cancer:positive

I froze at this.

"does he know he had it?" I asked awhile trying to process what I just read.

"n-no..." he stuttered out. "I didn't tell him yet" he looked up at me.

"I WILL LOSE HIM SONIC!" he yelled and broke down. I hugged him and rubbed his back.

"I'm going to lose him..." he said again looked at him.

I was crying too now.

"I can't believe this... I WILL LOSE HIM!" he yelled and almost choked crying.

"WHY HIM?! WHY NOT ME?!" he yelled again.

"Silver..." I didn't know what to say.

"I love him Sonic... And I'm goin to lose him... Now I understand Shadow... Shadow, I'm so sorry..." he cried again.

"I don't want to lose him! I don't want to!" he yelled and got up.

"he was my everything... The reason I woke up and went to sleep... The reason I smiled... He was... He was my Maria..." Silver looked at me and I remembered Shadow.

Tears streamed down my muzzle after realising Silver is going through the same thing as Shadow.

We hugged each other and cried.

"what happened?" we heard a voice behind me.

We pulled away.

"Mephiles?" Silver barely stuttered out.

"Silver!" he yelled and sat down next to him and hugged him.

"what's the matter?" he stroke his quills and Silver was crying again.

I got my phone out.

To:Shadow

If you wake up come to Silvers place.

"what's the matter?" he made Silver look at him and wiped the tears away.

"I-I d-d-don't want t-to l-l-lose y-you..."

Mephiles smiled.

"dont worry... You won't" he hugge dhim again.

"I'm afraid h-he will..." I said and the two parted.

I have him the paper.

He just stared at it.

He started laughing.

"this is..." he was laughing while crying.

"Well..." he started.

"This is..." he couldn't form a sentence.

He looked like he was about to pass out.

That, we heard the door open.

"Shaodw!" I yelled and clinged onto him, both of us falling onto our knees.

"Sonic?"

"Hey man... It seemes... I have... Cancer..." Mephiles said and bit his bottom lip.

"what?" he seemed shocked and sad.

Mephiles just nodded.

I looked at Shadow.

Shadow POV

I looked at Sonic.

The amount of sadness in his eyes...

He will not go through the same thing as me.

I got up and ran towards Mephiles. I knocked him into a wall.

"Shadow?!"Both me and Silver yelled.

"stay still..." I said and they kept still.

"I can't do it if he's awake..." I put a hand on his chest and a while light appeared.

This was already too much energy.

"I will try and kill the source of it..." I said and the two bent down to me.

Sonic POV

"Shadow!" I yelled at him.

His quills were fading and paling.

"this is a big amount of energy... I probably won't make it out after this..." I froze.

I clinged onto him.

"I don't want to lose you" I cried.

"Maria gave her life for me... It's time I do the same" he removed his hand from Mephiles' chest and passed out into my arms.

"NOO!!" I yelled and cried.

That, a bright light appeared and we were in a white space.

"what?" me and Silver looked around, each one of us holding the passed out boys.

In front of me appeared a tall blonde girl.

"hey,Sonic..." She said.

"M-Maria?" she nodded and smiled.

She tried to take Shadow but I hugged him and crossed my legt onto his chest.

"No,you won't take him, away from me!" I yelled.

"Sonic..."she smiled sadly.

"please.."I looked at her with tears in my eyes.

"take me!" I yelled. "Let him live, please..."

"Sonic... He's happy with you... He won't be the same if you died" she said.

"than don't kill me... Take a part of my energy or something... And give it to him!" I was crying.

"please..."I asked her again.

She smiled sadly again and nodded. She extended her hand and I took it. Her other hand was holding Shadow.

I felt a sharp pain in my chest.

I tried my hardest not to scream in pain.

And that everything went black.
