Stupid alarm. The irritating ring vibrates through the air and wakes me up. I curse under my breath as I push my quilt off me.
"Shut UP!" I groan as I slam my hand onto the button on top of the alarm to stop it ringing. It's the first day of year 11, in a new school.
I come from Cardiff and I live with my parents and older brother, Caleb. He's not that much older than me, just 7 months. We had to move here, to London, because Dad got a great job that he couldn't afford to decline so the family sacrificed and left everything to come here, happily. Except me. I wasn't happy. At all.
In fact, I cried and wailed and refused to leave the house the day we were moving. That didn't do much though. I knew I would have to leave in the end. I guess after a few weeks of settling in, it wasn't that bad. Today, however, I'm having second thoughts.I grab my towel and hop into the shower. Once I come out, I try to pick out an outfit that isn't too casual or too dressy. You know, I like first impressions. In the end, I put on a white lace top with black skinny jeans and throw over a military jacket. With it, I pull on some brown gable boots. I push up the sleeves and curl my hair and then apply light, neutral makeup. Done. I have dirty blonde hair with grey eyes, a small nose and eyebrows. Not pretty, but it's okay.
I thunder down the stairs and grab a piece of toast off my mum as I shout Good Morning to everyone.
"Morning Tris. You excited for school?" My mum asks me.
"No. It's high school mum. You know, lessons, lunch, the usual. What's there to be excited about?" I reply. My mother just shakes her head and smiles. Caleb is staring at his phone and my dad has the newspaper in front of his face. The typical family.
Once I finish my breakfast, I ask my Dad to drop me and Caleb off at school.
The day started along with the anticipation.
