"Reiji! Where are we going?!" Yui yelled as the angered brunette roughly pulled her by her hand. Even though she had asked for the twentieth time, he still did not answer.
Before she was aware, Reiji had dragged her back to the hotel, pulling her inside of his own room and slamming the wooden door behind the two of them.
He finally released her hand, leaving a red mark where he had grasped. "What's wrong with you?!"
"What's wrong with me?! What's wrong with you, Yui?!"
The girl was taken aback by his outburst.
"Why are you so angry?! This isn't like you, Reiji!" Yui protested, trying to keep herself from crying.
Reiji punched the wall, nearly causing a photograph to crash to the ground. "I can't help it." His voice was low as he gritted his teeth. "I can't stand it when he touched you so... so familiarly."
"Who, Otoya?" She crossed her arms over her chest and frowned. "Don't be pissed off at him."
"I said I can't help it!" His fist slammed beside the girl's head, startling her when his warm lips were against her neck.
Yui yelped when she felt a sting where his lips were.
"This will protect you..." Reiji stated, becoming shockingly kind again. "It will keep others and him from hurting you."
The girl placed her small hand on her neck. "Otoya and I are friends now. I'm happy that you aren't the only friend I have anymore. It hurts me that you're so angry... about him."
"How can I not be angry...? He acts so..." He gently stroked her round cheek.
"He's nice to me, Reiji. Yeah, he jokes around a lot, but that's the kind of person he seems to be. He's never deliberately tried to hurt me..." She continued to frown.
"Do you like him?" His brown eyes pried into her sharp silver gaze.
"No. Not in the way that you're suggesting..." The girl could already feel her heart begin to race as the tall brunette's lips were by her ear. "I've known him for a week and he's been nothing but kind."
"Good." He whispered. "Don't mistake his kindness and silly personality for something else." He softly kissed her cheek and stepped back. "He's the kind of guy who would end up hurting you in one way or another."
His words angered Yui. "What's wrong with you?! What happened to the happy, kind, and optimistic Reiji that became my closest friend?! I thought that no matter what, you would have my best interest in mind!" She shouted.
Reiji's brown eyes widened with surprise. "But Yui, I-"
"I don't want to talk to you unless the Reiji I know is back..." The girl looked to the ground, hiding her eyes under the shadows of her bangs. "Goodbye, stranger."
Paralyzed with shock and a churning pain in his heart, Reiji could only watch as she left his room.
But when she went into the narrow hallway, she nearly crashed into Otoya who was struggling to slide his hotel room key into the lock while he held a pack of ice to his chin.
Upon seeing him after Reiji had punched him, Yui couldn't keep herself from crying.
"Yui...?" Otoya said softly. "Come with me. You clearly have something weighing on your heart." He finally was able to open the wooden door and held it open for the girl.
He sat on the bed that was pressed to the wall and patted on the space beside him, gesturing for Yui to sit down.
"What's wrong?" He placed a sturdy hand on her back, rubbing it up and down comfortingly. "If you don't want to tell me, you can just cry to me." Despite his bruised and sore face, he smiled warmly.
