Knight's hands gripped the back Ka'ren's shirt for approximately ten minutes. He understood the rules of the streets-- it's not a real drive-by unless they spin the block. But, the only things he could hear were tires screeching and his child's loud cries. The man was pissed even though he upheld the reputation of being ruthless, he never harmed people's families. That was one thing his enemies respected about him.
His eyes met Ka'ren's and even Stevie Wonder himself could see she was pissed. Her body was shaking very hard causing him to grab her hands to make her stop. A million thoughts ran through both of their minds. All of the things Ka'ren feared were coming true right in front of her eyes. She wanted to snatch him up and punch 'em in the face. But, that would only shift her attention for a moment.
Her body started rocking back and forth trying to calm herself and most importantly her child. A couple of tears fell down her face hitting her shirt. Kairi finally started to go back into her blissful sleep. Her mother placed her into the car seat, which seemed to be the only thing that wasn't covered with glass.
"This is what the fuck I was afraid of! Everything I've done wasn't me being bitter or spiteful towards you! This is about the safety of my FUCKING CHILD! It's not just about you anymore or us anymore... we have a child who's barely 2 months old and our house is getting fucking shot up! Why? because of the job you do and the decisions you make! I'm not asking you to abandon what you know Knight! I'm asking is for now on you think about her!
Every time you do something you think about fucking protecting her! Because I fucking promise you I'll somebody child down to protect mine. I'll give somebody Mama something to do next weekend!". Ka'ren spat out letting tears fall down her face. The mother's face was so red it was probably the color of a cherry red tomato.
Knight couldn't do anything but nod his head and pull her into a hug. He understood the reasoning behind why she didn't tell him about the pregnancy. It was all to protect her and their baby-- he was more disappointed in himself. This was all his fault and he'd already broken one of the promises he made to his daughter.
"I'm sorry and I know that's not good enough for you. But, I'm trying to be better and do better. I promise imma make it right... I promise" His deep voice gave her comfort but not enough. He released her from the hug and wiped her tears.
The disgruntled parents took a look around at the damage. There was glass all over the floors-- the main front windows were completely shot out. The walls and front doors were completely covered in bullet holes-- the only thing that held them in place were the panels. Pictures were knocked out of frames-- glass fixtures were completely damaged.
