"Daddy look, it's the big bad wolfie!" I exclaimed pressing my face against the cool glass. A big black wolf is perched on a rock.
"Sure is, Squirt; don't do that. Thousands of people touch that-"
"Thousands!" I shriek stepping back.
"Yep."
"Ew!"
I take my sleeve and wipe my face when I notice a small wolfie. "Daddy, is that a wolfie junior?"
"He's small isn't he?"
I nod. He looks so soft. "Daddy, I want a baby wolfie..."
"You are still a baby yourself, Squirt!"
"Am not."
"Are too."
"Daddy, I'm six. See, six. Imma big girl." I proudly state holding up six fingers.
"Oh, if your a big girl then I guess you don't need ice cream!"
My eyes widen. "Ice cream! Just kidding Daddy I'm a baby!"
Daddy picks me up and kisses my forehead-
My eyes jolt open.
Ow!
I glance up only to have hail beat down on my face.
Can't a girl have memories in peace?
With a deep sigh, that uncomfortable feeling explodes within me. It tugs me north; what if I don't want to go north?
You shall, an inner voice demands. Great.
The pounding hail ricochets off the soaked concrete, kind of like the way my heart was against my ribs when Kylar smiled at me.
Kylar.
That stranger has been on my mind a lot. Or all the time.
Even at work I'm distracted.
All of the sudden, the sudden desire to go north increases and I sigh once more.
I don't know...
I stand up and head towards my house when me body can't take the harsh hail anymore.
Hail. Annoying but interesting.
Need I say more?
A dizziness rushes over me when I reach the porch, but this time there is no Elliott.
An Elliott who has yet to talk to me.
Soon, I find myself leaning against my door frame for support.
Maybe I should-
"My love?"
"Yes?"
"Why have you not come to see me?"
"I don't want to get hurt-"
"Me? Hurt you? My silly little darling. I'd never do such a thing!"
"Sure."
"My love, do you not understand? I care for you more than myself. I'd go to the moon and back if that was what you desired. All I ask is for one more visit?"
"I don't know..."
"Please?"
"We will see."
