PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE STARTING CHAPTER 4 PLZZZ. This may sound really really annoying but I've decided to write in Usami's P.O.V (Point of View) since it is just so much easier to write and it makes so much more sense (plus I don't need to use so many different pronouns ;)) but thank you for understanding. You may now start Chapter 4 of The Forgotten Basketball. Enjoy!!! :DDDDDD

The heavy mist slowly lifted as I opened my brown eyes. Looking down at myself, I was wearing my school uniform. A long, dark corridor with a seemingly large door at the end slowly appeared before me. Curious of what was happening, I started to walk slowly down the corridor. 'Usami,' a familiar voice called. 'Usami' another voice cooed. Soon, different voices calling my name echoed inside my head. Frightened, I picked up my pace and sprinted down to the end of the dark passageway and wrenched the large door open. A bright light shone through the door as I stepped through it. It clicked closed behind me and disappeared into thin air. I slowing turned my head to look at my surroundings, only to see a never ending blank, white space. Click, click, click went the shoes on my feet on the shiny, reflective floor. Another set of clicking shoes were heard behind me. Looking back, I saw the small but sweet, delicate smile that I surprisingly knew almost too well. 'K-Kuroko-senpai?' I stuttered. There was no answer. 'Senpai?' I called again. No answer again. I looked at the blue-haired boy closely. "We'll meet again..." his voice echoed. His small-structured body started to fade away. The mist slowly appeared once again. "S-Senpai.....Senpai.....Kuroko-senpai!" I reached out my hand to grab Kuroko's, only to go straight through him. "SENPAI DON'T LEAVE ME! DON'T LEAVE ME IN THIS MESSSsss...."

I suddenly sat up in bed, heavily breathing. Sweat trickled down my forehead. I slowly opened my damp, swollen eyes, realising that one arm was up in the air, as if to reach out for something... or someone. That's right, the dream, I recollected. Shiny droplets of water trickled down my pale face. Ara? Why am I crying? Kuroko was only someone I met nearly 24 hours ago, how come I was crying over a dream? I fell back down onto my bed with a thud, covering my face with my hands. Many thoughts were flying in and out of her head. Why was he in my dream? What is the meaning of this? Who were all the voices calling my name? The alarm went off, interrupting my thoughts. Oh right, school.

-------------------

The school yards of Seirin high felt like a scene from a quiet, abandoned building as I trudged on into the school grounds. There was no one to be seen, once again. The early bird gets the worms, mum would always say. My school shoes clattered onto the stone pavement. My mind ran back to the scenes from that dream. It felt so nostalgic, yet so unfamiliar at the same time. My mind must have ran back pretty far as my feet took me to the sound of a ball smacking onto the ground. I looked up suddenly, only to see a tall, well-built boy in the gymnasium. The squeaking of his shoes echoed through the large building. My eyes widened at his perfect figure, large palms and most fascinating of all, the sheepish grin that was always plastered onto his face. Why was he smiling to himself? Was he one of those immodest people who liked to brag about everything they've done? Weirdly enough, he had no uniform on to confirm he came to this school.

I watched slowly as he got ready to take a shot. It was at that very moment, time seemed to move very, very slowly. The basketball bounces up and down on the gym floor, bringing vibration to my feet each time. The large-figured man moves 'quickly' towards the hoop. His footing works perfectly with the ball as his feet lift off the ground.

The ball slowly lands back to the gym floor,

bounces a couple of times,

and rolls away.

Without even thinking, I run hurriedly towards the boy. Panic fills my mind as I frantically examine his large figure, lying on the cold, hard, floor. (a/n: tswift reference...XD kinda... *shuffles awkwardly away*) His chest moves up and down at a fast pace, but a pained expression floods over his sweating face, mouth open from exhaustion and large, bushy eyebrows knitted together. I sling his large, muscular arm over my shoulder as I attempt to carry his body to the nearby hospital, but one thing was weighing me down. I look over to see his left knee trembling. My eyes widen in shock. That injury was certainly not made just then. This was something very serious. I gather up all my strength and heaved him outside the gym.

---------------------------------------

"Ne Usami, why were you so late to class today?" Mei, my newly made friend mumbled over a mouthful of food.

"I....had a little trouble in the morning, that's all." I replied, giving a forced smile. It was kinda true, but I didn't want anyone to start rumouring about a tough guy who was rescued by a tiny, weak-looking girl. It was bad for both of us. Luckily, Mei shrugged my reply off and once again started blabbering on about how amazing some blonde model looked in his latest magazine cover shoot. All this became a blur of noise as my mind once again trailed back into the deep wormhole full of dreams. The voices. They stuck into my brain like super-glue, calling my name continuously.

'Usami'

'Usami'

'Usami'

"Usami?"

"Oi, Usami. Earth to Usami!" Mei cooed, waving a hand in front of my face. I flinched at her actions, snapping out of my daydream. "What's gotten into you lately? You've been out of it! You can always talk to me if you need any help, we may have only known each other for a few days but I reassure you I am one of the most trustworthy people you will ever meet!" She gave me a large, warm grin. I smiled back, trying to tell her that nothing was wrong, just sleep getting to the best of me.

"I'll always be here for you, by the way." She finished off, skipping cheerfully back to her seat as the bell rung for the next class to begin.

The window seat was never really the best position in the classroom, as a pair of beady eyes stared into my soul.

I'm sorry if this dragged on a bit, I've tried to write a bit more (to make up for the lack of active-ness, gomen, gomen ^.^') but writer's block has really been annoying me lately and I know I added an extra character (you know who ;)) in since one of my friends really wanted me to add some love triangle into it but please do leave your opinions below. Thank you for reading :D
