Chapter 2

Previously in Chapter 1

Eric: "Alana, after our visit at the KQ kingdom your mother and I suggest that you must have guards at your side at all times?"

Alana: "Wait what?! But father don't you think I have enough protection from the castle guards?"

Hye Mi: "Sweetie it's for your own safety."

Eric: "We've lost a lot of our men during the war against the Stygian kingdom. They've became stronger and we're worried that they might come after you."

Alana: "What does the Stygian kingdom have to do with me?"

Hye Mi: "The KQ kingdom told us that there was rumors going around their kingdom saying that the prince of that Stygian kingdom is about to become king soon."

Eric: "But in order for him to become king he must find a bride and because they have no alliance with any of the kingdoms he is on the hunt to find the one who is fit to be his queen."

Hye Mi: "So in order to prevent him from abducting you the KQ kingdom offered their best guards to us to protect you since the king and queen of the KQ kingdom do not have a daughter of their own."

As we were still discussing one of the castle guards interrupted and walked towards father. He leaned over to informing father that the guards from the KQ kingdom were waiting outside the door. Father then motioned the guard to let them in.

When the guard opened the door I couldn't believe my eyes. As the guards walked through the doors I could not believe what I've just witnessed. When mother and father said they were going to have guards by my side at all times I didn't expect there would be 8 of them?!

Eric: "Alana let me introduce you to the guards who will be by your side to protect you. Alana meet Ateez."

Princess Alana's POV

Alana: "I understand 1 or 2 guards with me, but father don't you think that having 8 guards with me is a bit much? I mean we don't even know if the rumors are true."

Hye Mi: "It's better to be safe than sorry. Sweetie we care about you and we want you to be safe-"

Eric: "-and I know it's a lot to take in, so I had 2 of them by your side for one day then 2 on the next day and so on. But enough of this let me introduce them to you."

Mother and father got up from their seats and motioned me to follow behind them so they could introduce each guard to me. Even though father toned it down to 4 guards, I still think it's a bit much. As I followed behind my parents one of the guards caught my eye. Father began introducing them one by one.

Eric: "This is Hongjoong. He is the captain of the royal guard."

Hongjoong: "It's an honor to be at your service my lady," he says placing a hand on his chest then bowing.

I could feel my heart pounding as we moved to the next guard. What is this feeling? I've never felt this way before. He looked more like a prince rather than the royal guard.

Eric: "This man over here is Seonghwa. He may not speak much, but I believe he'll open up to us one day."

Seonghwa: "Pleased to be at your service your majesty," he said bowing.

Eric: "This is Yunho. I can assure you that you won't be bored around him."

Yunho: "You can count on me your highness. I'll be there when you are feeling upset or bored," he said flashing his cute little smile.
