Narrator's POV

It gets very quiet in the Shin kingdom.  While King Eric and Queen Hye Mi were away forming an alliance with other kingdoms, all that Princess Alana can do is stay in her room and read a book.  Princess Alana was not allowed to have any close relationships with those outside the palace.  No one in the kingdom knew exactly why they couldn't which caused the rumors to start.

"Does the princess hate her own people?"

"The king wouldn't do that if she hated us.  He would try to have her connect with us."

"Why did the king make such a rule anyway?"

The kingdom may never know.  Everyone was forbidden to become friends with her ever since the day she was born.  The King and Queen didn't want their daughter speaking to anyone outside of the palace due to the fear of hearsay someone from the Stygian kingdom will lure her in with their magic and kidnap her.

The Stygian kingdom is full of dark magic.  Villagers of the Stygian kingdom were known for their use of magic to get what they want.  No one has really seen them in action, but rumor says those who roam through those kingdom walls will seek those they recognize.

King Eric's great-grandfather once wanted to make those of the Stygian kingdom an ally of the Shin kingdom, but something went wrong.  So ever since then the Stygian became the enemy of the Shin kingdom.  King Eric's father warned him "no matter the gender of your child you must protect them at all cost."

Why did King Eric's father warn him to protect his child?  Is this the reason the kingdom is forbidden to talk to the princess?  What does the princess have to do with the Stygian kingdom?  The kingdom doesn't really know how Princesss Alana behaves but when they see her run errands in the market with her lady in waiting she looks as pure as the white driven snow.

Princess Alana's POV

After taking a long bath, Seungeun helps me get dressed for the day.  Seungeun has always been there for me; she's like a sister to me.  As she brushes my hair I began to space out looking myself in the mirror.  Seungeun noticed me spacing out; she stopped brushing my hair and began to sit next to me.

Seungeun:  "Is there something wrong my lady?"

Alana:  "Yea I'm fine I was just thinking about my father's rule."

Seungeun:  "The one about those outside of the kingdom not allowed to speak with you?"

Alana:  "Yea....that one."

Seungeun:  "My lady, you know your father is only trying to protect you.  He cares because you are his only child."

Alana:  "I know.  I just want to know what it's like to have friends from other kingdoms.  I want to know what it's like to speak with the villagers of my own kingdom."

Seungeun:  "I understand my lady, but for your father's sake you must only speak to those who work inside the kingdom.  For your own safety.  Plus you got me haha."

Alana:  "Haha yea you're right.  I don't know what I could've done without you.  Seungeun I can't imagine what it would be like to be separated from you.  And you know you could call me by my name right."

Seungeun:  "I know but I don't want to get in trouble.  Come on let's get you dressed; your parents are going to arrive any minute now."

Finishing our conversation we got up from our seat making our way towards the wardrobe.  Seungeun and I joked around as she helped me put the dress on.  Fixing the last touches on the dress we moved back to the mirror to put on some light makeup.  Once the makeup was done Seungeun placed my tiara on my head then we made our way to the palace door's.
