I made a new cover :) I like it so much better than the old temporary one yayayay

IF KIE DIDN'T KNOW BETTER, SHE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT it was Midsommars all over again. The beachfront off The Point was literally crawling with Kooks dressed head to toe in black and the whole endeavor was giving Kiara the creeps. They chattered with each other, some with cocktails in hand, as they scattered all across the sandy shores in anticipation for the commencement of the funeral. Some Kooks smiled, some even laughed with one another. Children dressed in black ran around on the sand, giggling. It was like the empty casket that rested under the flower arch in the middle of the beach held no weight to anyone other than the three Pogues.

"What the actual fuck is this?" Pope looked around in awe. He wasn't sure what he expected, but it sure as hell wasn't what he was presented with.

"Kooks are so weird, man," JJ scoffed. Even when they were mourning, he offered a bit of comic relief.

"I hate being back here," Kiara looked up at the spot where Shoupe told the Pogues that they had lost signal of John B. She remembered how angry she had felt at the world. She remembered how badly she wanted to curl up and never see the light of day again. A part of Kiara died along with her friend that night, and she had done everything she could since to fill the hole he left. Being back at The Point was deeply troubling for Kiara; She hated how small and powerless it made her feel.

JJ looked over at Kie, placing his hand gently on her shoulder as a momentary offer of comfort before dropping it. She looked at him and offered a small smile and a nod as reassurance that she would be okay.

It was funny, the way she and JJ functioned after John B's death. JJ was JB's best friend, and John B was her's. And when John B was taken out of the equation, it was almost like it gave JJ and Kiara the chance to find each other. Granted, JJ was still holding back and Kiara still found every other second to become annoyed as hell at him, but it was comforting to know they had each other's support if they needed it. She felt comfortable with him.

"I know. Let's just do this for Sarah," Pope sighed, uncomfortable at the connotation of The Point and the sheer mass of Kooks surrounding them. The only way they were going to get through this was reminding themselves of why they were there: for Sarah, their Kook-turned-Pogue friend who took the fall with John B when she didn't have to.

Kooks began to gather around the casket as the Cameron family walked down from the top of The Point. An eerie silence fell over the crowd, which was fitting for the occasion. The whole thing felt off. The pit in Kiara's stomach grew a little deeper as she observed each of the Cameron's since the night that John B died. The whole family sported different emotions and Kiara found it difficult to read each of them. They stood next to each other but it was clear they didn't stand united. There was clear tension between each member of the family, and Kiara wondered what events had occurred at Tannyhill within the last week.

Rose had virtually no expression on her face, and Kiara would argue that she almost looked unphased, as if she wasn't about to endure her step daughter's funeral. Wheezie was the only one who seemed like she cared about her dead sister; Her eyes were puffy and glazed over and her whole face was swollen as if she had just stopped crying. Kiara felt bad for her, she couldn't imagine what it was like to lose a sister at such a young age.

Looking at Ward made Kiara's blood boil, and it took a lot of willpower not to curse him out in front of the entire island right then and there. She turned towards JJ, who looked tenser than she had ever seen him. He glared at Ward with gritted teeth and an angry stature. Ward walked towards the small podium that was set up next to the casket and spoke into the microphone.
