Heaven Hartwell

I don't like this. My first family dinner with everyone again and I have to tell them I'm pregnant.

I'm not embarrassed by my child, I just, after everything that went on with my last pregnancy I don't want to get their hopes up, as sad as it it is to say. Losing Kh'lai wasn't just a heart break for Kyle and I, all of these folk here now had to deal with it. I'm worried that they won't take it well.

But Kyle's right, they're going to know eventually so there's ultimately no point in procrastinating.

We all sat at the table, minus Jazzy and Lexi who played some game in the living room. They clicked fast but I wasn't surprised, kids make friends out of anyone. Plus Jazzy just one year younger than Lexi.

I spilled my guts about just about everything I could at this point, minus the pregnancy, over dinner. I talked about Aalexi, who everyone just adored, I talked about my new job and my co workers, talked about graduating college and getting my place, even though Kyle and I live together now. And now.....

I talk about the baby.

"Soooo..." I started slowly and like a domino effect, the conversations eased to a halt and all eyes looked to me.

I could feel Kyle look at me especially. He knew it was time. Like a reflex; like second nature he grabbed my hand under the table in support. Locking our fingers together.

My racing heart relax just a bit. Just a tiny bit.

"We have an announcement." I stated and eyes lite up with excitement.

"Oh come on spit it out." Maria piped with Sandra right on her tail.

"What is it?" She edged on the end of her seat.

"I'm-"

"Heaven's pregnant!" Kyle blurted out excitedly, cutting me completely off. And the room just absolutely lite up.

"Oh my God." "Congratulations!" "How amazing!"

"How far along are you?" Noah quizzed.

"Seven weeks."

"I called it!" Chrissy piped in. I figured she'd have an idea, after that conversation I had with her while wedding dress shopping.

"How?" Kyle's face twisted in confusion.

"She didn't want to drink when we went dress shopping." Chrissy looked at me knowingly.

I rolled my eyes, smiling.

"We Stan a responsible queen." Maria beamed.

"I hope it's a boy." Sebastian stated, giving Kyle a mean eye, as if he could control the gender.

This might not even be his baby for goodness sake.

"No way." Chrissy shook her head, along with Sandra, Maria, and Noah surprisingly.

"Dad come on, girls are way better. Isn't Jazzy your pride and joy." Noah looked at his father knowingly.

"Yeah. But I already have one of those. Why would I need another one?" He stared in a duh tone and I chuckled a little.

I knew their reactions would be wholesome and supportive. I guess actually telling them about my pregnancy isn't truly my fear. It's the baby not being a West at all.

And all I could do is pray until then.

Starting this week, I started up the dance studio for my girls again. I had to put it on a break because of everything with Jamal but I'm so ready to dive right back in. Also this week, Chrissy started her dance rehearsals for her wedding. Which is where I truly got to met Ryan, her fiancé since he couldn't attend our family dinner.
