Jisung is a five year old boy who like every other child waits for Halloween to come. But unlike others his Halloween is never happy. Every year he keeps on waiting to go for trick or treating but no one ever invites him to do so.
31st October 2007
This year was also the same for Jisung. He was sitting by his window and watching all the kids in his neighbourhood wearing their self-made princess or skeleton costumes. Or some of them wore those cheap dollar store costumes because their parents didn’t have time to make them one. Jisung wiped his tears with the sleeve of the costume he himself had made. Even though it didn’t look like anything, to him it was the best handmade costume.
His mother came up to him and said, “Jisung, do you want to have some candies?”
Jisung immediately turned towards his mother with a smile on his face and said, “No mother! Chahyuck promised that he would come this year and we would go trick or treating together!”
His mother sighed heavily. She felt sad about the fact that every year Jisung would keep on waiting for the same boy who bullies him so much at school. She then suggested him"Sweetie, you can go out on your own. There is no rule that one always needs a friend to go for trick or treating. Is it?"
Jisung the whined at his mother's suggestion and said, “But mother, there is no fun in doing that alone!” but there was no way she was listening to him because she wanted he son to be happy.
She gave him a sweet smile and said "Well if Jisungie goes out he would get lots of candies! Doesn't Jisungie want to have candies?"
Excited, he quickly got up and went out by himself. Jisung went outside with the pumpkin-shaped basket in his hand. As he was about to walk he noticed Chahyuck pass by him with some of his classmates. Chahyuck’s basket was filled till the brim with candies till the brim and since he was skipping along with the others, two candies fell out from his basket. Jisung went up and picked up the two candies and put them in his basket. “At least a good start for me.” he thought and smiled to himself as he put the two candies in his basket.
