12 year old Claire is an orphan. She lived in Denmark Colorado. She had a normal life for a street kid until one day she could control darkness. Somehow she found a way out of the state to Salt Lake City, Utah. She was adopted by a loving family but was still a street kid. She went to school and found a girl named Cress who could control light. Together they wear light and darkness, together they were Yin and Yang.
*Two years later they are both 14*
Claire POV
The school bullies were picking on Cress again. Ugh. I fused with my dandelion yellow hoodie and cargo pants. Then I flipped up my hood. I started walking towards Cress.
The kids at school had always thought that I was creepy, I guess I was. Cress was always peaceful and hated fighting someone when she had powers and they didn't, she would use it if someone threatened her or someone else, though. The only reason they were scared of me was an experience that had somehow been wiped from their minds. I tried to forget it but it always came back to me in my sleep. Why? Why? Why?
"Leave her alone," I yelled, in my mysterious deep voice. I started at their eyes and they all stumbled backwards.
"Go away, scrawny girl," shouted the leader. Now that was passing my lines. I ran up to him and he started running towards me. I jumped out of the way and swept my legs under his. He fell to the ground and groaned. I stared at the rest of them and they ran away. Cress grinned at me.
"Thanks," she said.
"Welcome," I replied.
*later that day*
It was the end of school. Across the campus's I saw a figure with strawberry blond hair, a cape, brown leggings and high boots. He was turned away from us so I saw this as a chance to use my power for good. Who knew what he might do to the other kids. Cress and I combined our powers into two different balls with a mixture of light and darkness. We could control the ball filled with two elements by combining them so our element mixes with the other. We both held one. When he turned around we through them at him. As he turned I saw scared sky blue eyes.
