Silence filled the room for what seemed like a long time. The unbelievable news of Danielle being in a mental hospital shocked everyone in the room. Her father does not know Danielle, but the news of a young girl checking herself into a mental hospital is sad for him to hear.
Promise is in disbelief. She could not believe her ears, Danielle Washington, the most popular girl in school is in a mental hospital? What happened to her last night that she had to check herself in?
Now Promise wants to know...
"I probably should not be disclosing that information to you, but that is just me telling you that Danielle cannot defend your whereabouts last night ," Detective Johnson continued.
Promise looked down, thinking everything through.
What really happened last night?
"Is there anyone else who can?"
Promise looked down more, eyes starting to well up with tears. "One of Danielle's friends," she choked. "They were all there when I was."
She kept' her eyes low while her father started to talk to the Detectives.
"Why is she in a mental hospital?"
"We don't know too much information, but from what we heard she checked herself in. A lot of people are very disturbed about last night so we are doing our best to find whoever did this."
Promise looked up then and Detective Johnson is staring straight at her as she says this. Promise looks down again at the pretty rug in front of the couch. She studied the pattern, playing with her hands so she can avoid locking eyes with the Detective.
"A lot of people that we know of are very disturbed by this, as I can understand your daughter is as well. We are going to do our very best to find who did this. Right now, Michael seems to be the last person who saw Giselle alive so we will make efforts to find him."
Promise's Dad and the Detective drifted off in a conversation while Promise just stared at the rug on the floor. She thought about Danielle, then Giselle, then Danielle again. What could have possibly made Danielle check herself into a mental hospital? What did she see?
What scared her that much to check herself in?
Something had to have scared her because she's Danielle Washington, and Danielle Washington does not give up that easily.
What did she see that Promise cannot remember?
"Well, thank you for your time Mr. and Miss. Mcclain, If you both need anything please do not hesitate to call," she provided a card to her father.
Promise's father escorted them to the door, but then Detective Johnson stopped in place, looking at the empty bottle of what were pills on the shelf next to the door.
She looked at the bottle, back to Promise's father, and back to Promise. She got outside after the other Detective, but just as she stood outside she turned back around before the door closed.
"May I ask, why is there a prescription for Xanax on the shelf? I noticed it was empty and there is a refill date, but the bottle hasn't been refilled yet, and the date passed."
Mr. Mcclain's eyes grew huge, he looked shocked and offended that the Detective even mentioned what she saw.
"How did you see that and why are you asking me something that doesn't involve the case?" Mr. Mcclain asked, offended.
Detective Johnson looked calm, despite Mr. Mcclain's tone change. "I was just curious because I am aware that Xanax is a pill that treats many disorders and even anxiety."
