Chapter 10: "You don't trust me."
"You look really pretty," Tyler commented, as I sat across from him the next day.
It was right before lunch, and we were in our spare block, "studying" in the library.
"I'm wearing the same boring uniform as everyone else,"I pointed out.
"Yeah. But you make it look good."
I grinned and leaned forward, finding our conversation much more interesting than my Chemistry textbook.
"You know, you look really good too. Even hotter in your church outfit. Khaki pants, button up shirt, penny loafers — oof. You look sexy."
Tyler playfully cocked an eyebrow at my blatant flirting.
"Checking me out in church? That's new."
"Oh, what can I say, Tyler Hastings? You drive such unholy thoughts into my mind," I teasingly whispered.
"Really, Maya Fitzpatrick? I've never heard about these unholy thoughts."
I took a second to make sure no one was watching before continuing.
"Well, they start right about here," I said, reaching my finger out to touch his soft lips. "Then they go down lower, down all the way..."
I trailed off when my eyes hit where his crotch would be under the library table. I bit my lip.
Tyler breathed out shallowly, instantly bringing my eyes back up.
I smugly smiled before turning my attention back to the chemistry questions in front of me.
A few seconds later, I felt a warm hand on my thigh, just underneath my skirt.
I looked up, surprised to see Tyler lustfully looking at me, his chest touching the library table as he kept his hand on me underneath.
"I have pretty similar thoughts," he whispered.
Just then, the bell rang, sounding for lunch.
Tyler removed his hand, and I cleared my throat, as we began gathering our stuff.
When I moved forward to leave, he pulled me back, planting a quick kiss on the side of my face.
"Oops, my bad. Didn't see you there," he joked, as I playfully shoved him.
He slung his arm over me and we walked to the dining hall together.
Elijah would have killed us both.
The rest of the week flew by, and Tyler and I became closer. At times, I felt like we were moving too fast, but I pushed that feeling away with what I knew: Tyler made me feel good.
On Friday, I had to lie about not being able to attend church that weekend.
"Aw, but why? Seeing your cute face is my favorite part of church now," Tyler grinned.
"Aw, and I thought it was the elderly grannies that had won your heart," I joked.
"Well, they're not too bad either. Anyways, why aren't you coming?"
"I'm not sure. I think I have somewhere to go on Sunday. I'll try to come," I promised.
And that was exactly my intentions Saturday morning, when I walked downstairs, looking for Charlie to try and convince him.
I stopped in my tracks when I saw Jasper stumbling through the door with a bloody nose and bruised face.
"Oh my fucking g—"
