"Have a nice day ahead Kevin, I always look up to you
-xoxo"
Sarah wrote to a single sheet of sticky note, the night before. She had always been looking up to Kevin since they first bumped at each other during recess in their campus' canteen. Maybe she has a crush on him, maybe she's just idolizing her - Kevin's look is quite eandering but he does not have a build of a "jock" and would not fit in to that clique in their campus - Sarah would always look and gaze at Kevin.
She suddenly shrieked loud in both excitement and shame - She thought that maybe girls had already given Kevin these kinds of thing, or maybe she'll be the first one. Sarah was unsure to what will happen to her sticky note, if Kevin would tear and shred it into pieces, or will he put it into his stuff and admire her short and sincere message - but her mother was sure that she heard Sarah screamed her lungs out at the middle of the night.
'Sarah! It's the middle of the night! Get some sleep, you have classes tomorrow!' her mother scremed as she close the lights.
'Sorry!' she replied. Sarah put her sticky note in her bag and called it a night.
Sarah is the typical highschool girl, but rather than having friends to be with her and chat with her all the time, she has no one. She is often silent at school, read books alone, and always on her phone, just to keep herself entertained - she knows a lot about mobile games and would play them alone rather than with someone else. As silent as she is, she does talk to her classmates, but she has a hard time keeping up with them that is why she seldomly bond with them. She is pale, has a beautiful face, a thin-pitched voice, blonde hair, and eyeglasses that has thick lenses. That is what the least of how others see her.
The first thing she did when she had woken up for the morning is to boil some water in their pot, she does not like the cold - she is fond of being in the warmth, like in beaches and parks. She does not like when her body shivers to the cold air of the winter season, and despise the fact that it makes her favorite flowers wither from the temperature brought by it.
'Breakfast is ready Sarah; I've ironed your uniform already.' her mother's early call to Sarah's wet from the bathroom body.
'Thanks Ma.'
'While you're at it, wake your brother up, he's gonna be late for his job training again.'
'Yes!' Sarah replied enthusiastically.
Sarah dressed and went to her brother's room to wake him up, goes to eat her breakfast, had a little petty talk with her mother as she finishes her sunnyside up egg, toasted loaf, and her hot milk. Her mother, as for Sarah, is the best cook - she had been cooking for them for years, and is a cook herself from a fancy restaurant in the city. She also sees her mother as a great father material - since her father died after a month after she was born, she does not have any memory with his father, just picture. His brother certainly did.
As soon as she finished, she went to her room to get her bag, brushed her teeth, and went her way - basically her typical weekday morning routine. She finishes all that 30 minutes after she wakes up.
'Take the bus sweetie.' her mother said while Sarah head for the door.
'I'll just walk, it is still early.'
'Be careful.' her mother's last words before she closed their door.
Sarah decided to walk to see the sun rise. She walked fast to get to the brigde near them because it has a great view of the sun rise from the mountains behind their city. Sarah just loved how the sun rises, and how the sun sets at the different direction, and she's lucky to witness both in the same bridge.
As she was walking to get to their campus, the cold breeze of the morning blew on her hair. Just like how the hair of the models of different commercials, especially shampoos, blows their hair, elegantly. At that time around, it was just her in the alleyway.
To entertain herself, she plugged in her earphones and listened to some tunes, sang along while she walks. Feeling like being in a Korean Teledrama, Sarah kept on imagining who would be her "leading actor" to their own drama - Kevin is the only boy she has in mind.
At the end of a song, she heard a sudden shout from a distant, a familiar voice to her per se.
'Hey! Sarah! Hey!' The voice sounded like it is running from a distant towards her back, she leaned to see who kept calling her.
'Hey, you like walking alone do you?' She stumbled at the sight when she figured it was John, her overly friendly classmate who talks to basically everyone in their classroom. She knew that John is one of Kevin's closest friends in their class. That made her blush.
'Oh, Good morning John, what brings you here?' Sarah said as John goes down his bike.
'Just trying different routes, like exploring different alleys of our city if one may say.' John replied enthusiastically.
'Do you need someone to walk with?' He continued.
Sarah daydreamed, thinking that she is a step closer to Kevin, maybe just as friends also - she kept on thinking if John can be the way for her to enter Kevin's circle of friend. Out of somewhat excitement, she turned red.
'Hey? Are you okay Sarah? You're face turned red all of the sudden.' John noticed the redness of Sarah's face while waiting for her answer.
'No, I'm okay, you know, I can't handle the cold breeze. My face often turns red when I am exposed to the cold air of the morning. This is no biggie.' She replied, clearly lying.
'Hey, you go ahead John, I'm going to a shop real quick. It may bother you.' She continued, also clearly lying.
'Okay, if you say so, meet you at school later!' John mounted his bicycle and paddled himself away from where Sarah was walking. She seemed to be disappointed to her decision, but she might as well be very ashamed if Kevin would have seen her with John.
Not totally ashamed though, but more of an 'I-think-Kevin-will-think-that-I-am-with-John' type of situation built up inside her head. She is not totally sure of what Kevin would think if he saw John and her walking together to their school.
Sarah walked towards the city circle to look at different shops to see what she could buy. Lotions, colognes, dress, makeup, even school supplies, a good book to read, the geeky stuff and much more.
As she walks towards a building with a pedestrian lane, she saw Kevin. It was like a dream come true to her at this point, seeing someone you look up everyday, walking at the same pavement you are used to walk in every once in a while.
She's got that paparazzi type of stalking feeling, and that starstruck type of admiration feeling.
Kevin, curious about the traffic lights, and probably the other lights of the buildings, and the other sights that were present around - the flowers of the floral shop, the noises of the small cars, the early coffee grinding sound of a café nearby - did not seemed to notice the eyes of Sarah that was beside him this whole time. Sarah was not disappointed though, she seemed interested to what kept Kevin curious about stuff.
As for her plan to look for different things that she would want to buy in shops, it was gone, right before John showed up out of nowhere. Now she's disappointed.
Sarah hid somewhere, where John woould not see her, as well as Kevin - even though she knew that she would not be noticed by Kevin's curious look to different stuff around him. She saw both of them walking away, chatting with stuff.
Sarah remembered the sticky note, and the least that she can do is to give it to Kevin, before or after school.
She hurried to school, with enthuasiasm. The feeling of as if she was gonna give something precious to someone significant in her life. She was running and all, but not that much that would make her pant and grasps for air.
More like she was jogging her way, with at least fewer than 5 kilograms of weight in her backpack.
She got as soon as she had noticed, and luckily, no unwanted sweat - all thanks to the cold air the season had brought.
In nerve, she pulled out her sticky note out of her bag and decided to tear a page of that sticky side of the paper, and would stick it to Kevin's table. She stopped when she saw John's head poked out of their door window. Sarah decided to hide the note.
When both John and Kevin went inside their class, John joined their other classmates while Kevin chose to sit alone, and be quiet, leaning at the window beside him and looking down to the other students that are going to their classrooms also. She snucked out a notebook from Kevin's open back and stick it in one page.
She was surprised when their professor came in all of the sudden. She ran and got to her respective seat.
Kevin noticed the note and scanned all around to whom he may think sticked it inside his notebook, Sarah secretly glares at him. She chuckled when their professor called out Kevin when he's mumbling about stuff.
'Well played Sarah' she said to herself. Then she listened to their professor.
Mathematics for her was like hell for 45 minutes, she understood the lesson, and she is quite great at numbers, but she saw her professor as someone who's a close embodiment of the devil. Make one noice, maybe you'll be safe, or maybe he'll chant the hell's curse to all of you and give all of you the hardest questions - quizzes, activities, and worse, sudden large projects.
She never really had an interest in numbers, but she is blessed that she can understand it, and solves such "hardcore" questions. Calculus for her was simple, so as Stastistics. She has no problem solving mathematical equations; she just did not want Math.
'We'll be having a short quiz right after this topic, get your calculators ready.' their professor said all of the sudden.
She was bumped by the thought of them having a quiz - she does not like surprise quizzes.
