The light at the end of the tunnel was finally coming closer, and closer, until Katsuki was finally free to leave. The only thing they had been waiting on was the elbow brace they wanted him to wear to prevent muscle contraction; that, and a KAFO for his right leg.And with that, the bitch walked out of there, which he more than definitely bragged about.
The night had been easy. Him, and his father had printed out, and laminated a shit ton of different pictures. Yeah, they didn't speak like the communication board did, but they sure did offer a variety. They also made a small set that they hung on a keychain; it was much easier to bring with him, rather than lugging the board around everywhere.
"Hang on, I forgot I got this for you," the brunette man had begun to dig through his travel bag, until he found the thing he'd gotten at the pet store a few days prior while Kirishima had been keeping him occupied, "here, give me your phone. You won't be able to read this, so I wanna make sure you have something to look back to so you know what it says."
Katsuki raised a brow at his father, yet was genuinely curious as to what he was going on about, so the phone was handed over. The man took it, and began to record a video of the two of them, while holding up the dog tag necklace.
"Hey, bud," the man began, and made sure to focus the camera on the dog tag for a good few seconds, before he put it around Katsuki's neck, "if you ever get lost, I want you to show this necklace to someone. It's a medical identification tag. It has mine, Kirishima's, and Aizawa's phone numbers on it for the person to call, just in case one of us doesn't answer. It also states that you're mute, and have short term memory loss, so they understand what's going on. So, once they call, just sit tight, and one of us will come to get you, alright? Love you."
The boy pressed the plate of metal between his fingers, and tried to keep himself from getting emotional over the fact that his father had thought of something like this, even if he'd never need it. God, he really did love that man. He thought of two other people to use too, and not just himself. Shit, old man. Damnit.
"I'm gonna attach this video to your lock screen, so you'll never have to worry about forgetting I made it. And you're the one who showed me how the video screen things work, so just, you know how to access it. Now, are you comfortable being at home alone? Because my work leave is expiring tomorrow. If not, I can find someone to stay with you?"
A nod, followed by a thumbs up. He could handle this, he didn't need a damn babysitter.
"So you're okay with it?"
Another head nod, a little more intense this time, accompanied by a sigh.
"Okay, I just wanna make sure. I'm not trying to make it seem like I don't trust you, I care about you is all, bud, alright?"
A conversation full of head nods was the case, as he added yet another one to the list. Hm, let's change the subject. Katsuki raised the bows once more, and pointed to the arm brace he loved so much, and by loved, he meant burn it with fire, cuz fuck that thing. Leg brace on the other hand had his whole heart.
The man looked at the time, and let out a sigh, "yeah, we can take it off now, it's late enough."
Thank the heavens. Two useful arms, again!
"While you're at it, take the one off of your leg too. You shouldn't keep them on all day. Use the crutch for the rest of the night, alright?"
This bitch. That board was his favorite thing to use when he wanted to really pull out that sass.
"# no #"
"Unless you want to get sores, and be forced to use the crutch 'til they heal, yes."
