"Bakubro? What the heck are you doing here?"Hm, beats him. So a shrug is what his red headed best friend got, which just got him a laugh in return.
Thank goodness for Aizawa, surprisingly, he was good at making a joke out of things that might hurt, which was nice, "dork got himself lost, and doesn't remember how, so meet your new class pet. At least for today. But I'm gonna try to work on that, and make it more permanent."
"Oh, sweet," that clingy boy slung an arm around the blonde excitedly, "I call first dibs!"
"Kaccan, you're okay," the nerd was suddenly not as annoying as Katsuki remembered him being. Their first year at UA was rocky, and everything before that, but things had really mellowed out these last two years; slowly, but surely. He'd been meaning to apologize for how awfully he'd treated the boy back then, but he'd never brought himself to get around to it; and now, he couldn't comprehend why it had been so hard for him to do, "I was so worried."
"Relax, Midoriya, he's doing just fine. I told you he was still alive, didn't I?"
"Still alive! That could mean so many things, Kirishima!"
Leave it to the redhead to set the crybaby into a panic. Katsuki gave him the most 'so you didn't tell them about me, wow' look, and nearly laughed.
The boy laughed for him, and damn could that shit read him like a book, "of course I didn't tell 'em. It's your business to tell, not mine."
To that statement, he gave a facepalm, and gestured in a way that read 'well be my voice then, and spill the beans.'
And again, his counterpart read it perfectly, and began, "well, thank you for your permission to spill the tea, your majesty," the two laughed once more, while the rest kind of just watched in curiocity, "um, well, all you need to know is that he can't remember shit. Like, uh, Dory! Yeah, why didn't I think of that before. Dory, from Finding Nemo? Personally, I prefer Finding Dory, but that's not important right now."
The connection was nice. He did love Dory, but that didn't change the fact that dipwad missed the other big hit, and so, Katsuki hit him.
"What?!"
What a precious moron. He rolled his eyes, and patted his throat a few times, which finally brought that lightbulb back to the boy's head, as he lit up like one.
"Oh, right! You can't talk, my bad."
"I think you're the one that can't remember shit, Kiri," Mina teased from across the room, and heaved herself out of her desk in order to pour herself across Katsuki's shoulders as well.
"You'd think so, right?"
"Yeah, says the person who forgot me at the store, and left me there to walk home," Sero mumbled, followed by a huffy laugh.
The three continued their banter, unaware of the fact that Katsuki was no longer listening. Instead, he was focused on his childhood friend that stood in front of him. He could tell by the expression on the boy's face that he wasn't sure what to say next, considering Katsuki hadn't told him to shut up, and fuck off quite yet. He shook off his nerves, and walked right up to him, grabbed his hand, and began to lead him out of the room.
"Excuse me, class is starting, you two. Where do you think you're going," Aizawa's monotone voice stopped him just as he was about to exit the doorway. The only sort of response the man got was a pleading glance from the blonde, followed by an unsure shrug from Midoriya, "god, fine. But I swear you will both feel my wrath if I have to go break up a fight."
Katsuki shook his head, spun on his heel, and proceeded to yank the boy out. They didn't go far, just a little ways down the hall. Midoriya didn't make a sound of protest, he'd learned better over the years of failed attempts.
"Um, Kaccan?"
Board, where was that communication board, and why didn't he have it with him. Shit. He must have left it at home; at least, that was his best guess. Charades it was. He looked into those green eyes, and tried to loosen his expression as best as he could. The start was easy. He pointed to himself.
The problem was figuring out how to say 'sorry.' He knew there was a sign for it, which would have helped a shit ton if he knew sign language. But he didn't. How convenient.
"Is everything okay," that boy's expression filled with confusion, more than likely due to the fact that Katsuki's face had suddenly filled with frustration.
Okay, calm down. Try something else. He was awful to him. Bullied him, hurt him, told him to swan dive off the roof. He grabbed the green haired boy's collar, and held up a fist. Then slid his thumb across his own throat. God, that came out wrong. Bad move. Shit.
"You're mad at me, aren't you... I'm sorry, Kaccan. I'm really sorry," those emerald eyes filled like tide pools. Yeah, really bad move, "I shouldn't have bombarded you like that, I knew better, and I still did it. I know I need to learn to leave you alone..."
No, no, don't cry. God, why is it so hard to show that he cares. Why has it always been so hard? He backed off, and tried to hold back the tide pools that were forming in his own eyes. He hadn't let out much more than a light hearted 'meow' since this confusing nightmare began, but god, that sound was choking its way through that barrier as if it had been morphed into vomit. And for once, he let out a scream for the first time in about a month, or so.
Midoriya shot up in his own skin like a badger at the sound of his friend, as his face filled with shock, and a hint of fear. That shock grew tenfold when Katsuki shot forward, and wrapped his arms around the boy as if he was terrified he'd disappear if he didn't. A muffled cry followed, which brought on an emotional cry of his own.
He wasn't angry at all... he was trying to apologize.
Midiriya hadn't lost his friend after all. Out of the storm, Katsuki had finally found his way; finally found a way out of the prison he'd created. And there was no way Midoriya was going to let him get caught in that maze again.
Not alone, anyway.
