⚠ Prologue - 2060 ⚠

The world was changing. Simon knew this. He also knew that the massive boom in the technology industry was going to help humanity, but also help to destroy it. He didn't anticipate the virus. No one did. No one thought humanity could stoop to that level. Technically, the "Virus" had been named incorrectly, because it wasn't actually dead cells that live off a host. But then again it might as well be. 

The Imperius "Virus" were actually minuscule robotic modules that resembled the shape of a spider. A really tiny spider. The modules would make their way into the subject via resource consumption, open wounds, being on their finger when they wipe their eye, you name it. Creative buggers. Once inside they proceed to latch onto a certain group of nerve endings. Once this happens there's nothing the victim can do. Once this happens their limb is under another influence completely. The hacker's. Less advanced programmers tend to go for limbs such as legs and arms. However more advance hackers have the skills to control multiple parts of the body simultaneously, see through the subject's eyes, speak to the host via a separate module and inflict small electric shocks. 

An overload of these modules can result in fatality.

They had been created by cyberpunks who got bored of breaching boxes of wires and moved onto living organisms. The government experimented on animals for a short while but shut the project down down to basic ethical values. That didn't stop the hackers though did it, oh no.

Bright beginning of a new century his ass. Thanks to this Virus the whole world was in quarantine. But it was being lifted. Bit by bit.
