The sky was a murky grey colour, rain pelting down heavily across the land. Ciel was sitting in the game room, his chin propped up with his hand. He threw his right leg over his left, huffing in frustration. It was about twenty minutes since Sebastian and Claude had gone out to deal with the infiltrators. Alois was staring at his white chess pieces, contemplating on what move to take. He rubbed the side of his head, picking up his bishop. Claude was patrolling the hallway, paying no mind to the storm that was brewing outside. He smirked faintly to himself, well knowing that he could play the victory right into his hands. Walking up to the game room, Claude rose his gloved hand. He delivered two heavy knocks, dropping his arm. Alois turned to look at the door, just making his move.
"Come in!~" He called out, Ciel making his next move. He leaned back, resting a hand over his mouth a touch. His eyes gleamed, scanning the chess board. Victory was already in sight. Opening the door, Claude stepped in. He bowed, both of his long arms at his sides. Alois leaned out of this chair sideways, blinking.
"Claude, where is Sebastian?" The boy questioned. Ciel looked up at that, noticing that the Trancy butler had arrived solo. Claude adjusted his golden spectacles, white light reflecting off of his lenses for a moment.
"Temporarily occupied, your highness." Claude replied simply. He wasn't lying, though, he wasn't going to reveal that he did give the other demon quite a beating. Alois grinned slowly, sitting up.
"Well! Since you're the first one here, it must mean that you took out more of the men!" Alois concluded, not giving it a second thought. Ciel raised a brow, watching the scene unfold. His eyes flicked to his black knight that was on the chess board. His blue iris glinted faintly.
'Sebastian.. failed?' The Phantomhive thought to himself. Ciel swallowed lightly, rescanning the chess board. His orbs flicked over every move he had made from the beginning. Alois smiled, turning back to the chess board. He picked up his white knight, biting his lip gingerly. He suddenly slapped down Ciel's rook, laughing.
"I guess Claude wins this round!" Alois giggled, setting his knight down. Ciel watched as the wooden piece fell to its side. The noir paint reflected in the dim light, it's pearly shine growing faint. He slowly trailed his eyes up to Alois, his expression dull. He opened his mouth to reply, but just at that moment, there was a knock on the door. Claude's expression didn't change, well knowing who it was. Ciel flicked his eyes to the door, standing up.
"Enter." The boy commanded. The wooden door slowly opened. Stepping into the room in a fresh set of clothes was none other than the crow himself. Smiling, he dipped his head.
"My sincerest apologies, my lord. I have made a report of the party." Sebastian said, going down on one knee. He was holding a silver platter in one hand, his other hand resting upon his chest. A scroll sat on the platter. A royal blue ribbon was tied around it, a wax stamp keeping the scroll intact. Claude let out an inaudible grunt, one that humans couldn't hear. Though, a demon could. Sebastian restrained a smirk at Claude's reaction. Once again, the raven had gone out of his bounds to do the most. Ciel walked over, plucking the scroll from the tray. Opening it, he scanned the list of names in the report.
"Hm.. Gervais Ponce. I recognize this man's name.." Ciel pondered, rubbing his chin in thought. Sebastian raised back to his feet, keeping one hand on his chest.
"Quite, my lord. He's been the ringmaster for the recent firearm smugglings along the East." Sebastian said, his eyes closed. Ciel sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. He slumped back into his chair, setting the scroll aside.
"Another mess I have yet to clean up as the Queen's watchdog." Ciel murmured mainly to himself. His eyes slowly drifted to the chess board, scanning the pieces that remained standing. His eyes narrowed faintly, seeing his knight.
