Katie: you've been called back!!
Me: Seriously?
Katie: Yes! Auditions are today. Maybe we'll get to audition together?
Me: You're called back too? I knew it! Tracy's got your name written all over it.
Katie: I only want it if your Link...
I got dressed in dazed happiness. I couldn't really comprehend that fact I had been called back. My audition was definitely not very good. The excitement was unreal. If anything, I get to spend another day with Katie and that's amazing enough. She gave me the courage to do the oddest of things, and that kiss, I wouldn't ever want it off my lips. She gave me two things to love.
I planned to grab a quick bowl of O'Mighty Fiber, my favorite cereal, before heading out to hang out with Katie before the audition. To be honest, I am nervous for the audition — more than I was yesterday. Because, although it was so awkwardly bad, it was fun. And it was fun to be with Katie. I've never really been good at anything outside of school, which scares me because I really want this.
My plans changed when I got downstairs to see Claire and Elliot sitting at the kitchen table chatting over coffee. I decided against being sucked into a lengthy or just weird conversation, I'd get food in town. I went straight to the mudroom to get my shoes without a word. Although they tried to talk to me, I made sure to tell them I was "in a rush" and couldn't stay. They seem like nice people, but I'm not ready to talk until I've wrapped my head around the situation. My head still ached a bit today, but for Katie I could ignore it. I still have a week until I'm allowed back at school to take another concussion test.
"Have a nice day, bud!" Elliott shouted as I left.
"Thanks...," I grumbled.
