I grabbed my dress for the party throwing it down on the bed, I ran my fingers through my head letting out a loud sigh. I was actually happy. Everything was just falling back in place. My best friends were back, my niece was amazing and most importantly I was happy with myself. I didn't need no nigga tellin' me what to do. Especially where I lived, all nigga's do here is hustle. I lived on my own but it wasn't in a very good neighborhood. People were always selling. I don't have a lot of money because I have a part time job because I'm in school to become a mid wife. I walked into the bathroom plugging the curling iron in, just as I heard a knock at the door. I walked over to the door looking in the peep hole. You could never be so sure especially since I live in the hood. I saw my 17 year old brother standing at my door. I opened it looking at him up and down.

"Shawn! Why are you here?" I opened the front door all the way letting him walk in. He walked past me walking to the couch as I closed the door behind him.

"Nothin' chillen. Word on the street is Yana back. that true?" I raised my eyebrow at him chuckling a little.

"Boy please. You know damn well you ain't hear shit from the street, yeah she here, who told you?"

He chuckled nodding at me. "You right. But I saw Nae drop her off at her house when I was coolin wit' Curtis." I shook my head knowing just what he meant when he was "coolin".

"Nigga, you drove over here high?"

He chuckled rubbing his nose. "chill shawd. it ain't nothing big. It was just a little hit I'm straight."

"Alright you say that shit now but when mama find out she gone have that ass." I shook my head walking back into my room.

"Yeah whatever but tell yo' girl to stop fuckin' wit' them fake ass niggas and get wit' a real one." He called out from the living room before shutting the front door and leaving.

I shook my head and laughed, Shawn always had a thing for my friends. But he had the biggest crush on Iyana. Ever since he laid eyes on her. His first words were her name. I took a long breathe getting ready for the night.

Let it begin.
