Naruto The Final Day (One-Shot)

Final Day

Naruto Uzumaki walked through the destroyed North Gate of Konoha. Looking up at the black burned wooden doors that he used to feel 'safe' in. He grimaced as he looked down at the bodies of two ANBU. Their masks were broken, revealing their faces. One was a teen no older than 17, his face was covered with blood and his eyes wide-open. Naruto walked over to the boy and knelt down, closing his eyes, "May you find peace in the after-life," Naruto whispered as he turned to the other ANBU. A woman by the looks of her. Long brown hair and blood trickling down her lips. As Naruto walked over to the woman, her eyes suddenly opened as she gave a loud gasp, "*Cough cough* W-what happened?" the woman whispered, "W-where am I?"

"You live," Naruto said in surprise, kneeling down to help her

"W-who are you?" the woman asked as Naruto grabbed her hand

"Name's Naruto, you?"

"Aimi," the woman replied, making Naruto smile

"What a lovely name you a young woman," Naruto said as he picked her up with ease. He placed her on his back as he said: "Do you know what happened?"

"N-no, I don't. The last thing I remember was showing a rookie how things were done," Aimi answered as Naruto looked down at the dead teen

"Well... he won't need those skills where he's going," Naruto said as Aimi looked at the corpse

"Oh kami, Arata," Aimi said as Naruto heard her breath hitch

"Don't cry, Aimi... these things... happen," Naruto said sadly as he carried her away

"W-where are you taking me?" Aimi asked franticly

"Somewhere,"

"Where's 'somewhere'?"

"Somewhere," Naruto deadpanned. This made the woman grunt as they walked through the burned streets of Konoha, seeing the scorched earth beneath them, leaving tracks in the piles of ash Naruto would occasionally step on. Naruto then looked up a the Hokage Monument, seeing the 7 faces on it, "Good to know that the old man is still up there," Naruto said

"W-what are you talking about, geezer?" Aimi asked

"The Third, it's nice to see his face is still up there... at least what's left of it," Naruto said as he looked closer, seeing that the Third's face was missing a few pieces and some hair. But that didn't bother him one bit as it was still there, watching over the village, despite its horrible state. Aimi looked up at the Monument as she asked: "You knew the Third Hokage?"

"Yeah, knew him since I was born, but he died some 60 odd years ago, no thanks to Orochimaru," Naruto answered, "just yesterday when I looked in the mirror, I swore I saw him staring back at me,"

"You're one strange old man. Carrying a woman you found not 3 minutes ago through her destroyed village and telling her that you're from here," Aimi said, causing Naruto to laugh

"Hahahaha, you're right... you're right," Naruto trailed off as he stopped at a building. Melted stools bent over and what was left of a bar-counter. Naruto walked over to the building as he set Aimi down, "Ichiraku," Aimi said

"You know this place?" Naruto asked sarcastically, but Aimi didn't notice the sarcasm

"Know it? I knew the lady that ran the place," Aimi answered. Naruto looked over the counter to see a half-burned corpse. Naruto hopped over and turned it over. He closed his eyes as he gave a sad sigh, "Rest in peace, Ayame," Naruto said as he picked her up and jumped back over the counter

"Please no," Aimi said as she saw Ayame in his arms. Naruto set Ayame back on the ground as he went through several hand-signs. Finishing on a rat hand-sign, the ground in front of him opened up in a perfect square, 6 feet deep. Naruto grabbed Ayame's body as he hopped down into the grave and set her down, "I'll be seeing you soon, Ayame," Naruto said as he jumped out of the grave and sealed it up. Going through another set of hand-signs, a small grave-stone appeared on top of the grave with the words: 'Here lies Ayame Ichiraku. She was a good daughter, mother, aunt, and cook. XXXX-XXXX R.I.P.'
