She has been trying to convince herself that she's experiencing a nightmare. But no matter how many times she tried to wake herself up, the ugly reality still appeared.

Her mother's statement continued to ring over her ears as she is hesitant to accept the fact that Yuan is her fiance.

There she is at the same worn out hospital gown, at the same hospital bed.

Days and nights have gone by quickly. They made sure to guard her, telling her stories and reminding her that she has company.

Especially him.

Yuan.

The moment she was finally awake, he made sure to keep her company all the time. He never left her side and continued to shower her with affection. From his fingers always patting her hair up until to his lips leaving small pecks to her knuckles.

Amid the sweet gestures, she would always notice the guilt submerged through his eyes and she doesn't know why. He would always look to her that way which had eaten her worries even more.

Why do you look guilty?

I should be the one who'd feel that way, Yuan.

I should be the one guilty for killing you.

Up until now, that gruesome incident never left her mind.

She felt every moment, from pulling the trigger to feeling the bullet. She remembered how she probably lost a lot of blood upon the gunshot. It felt so real to the extent that she clutched to her chest to see any effect, to see if she'll wince for once. But no work.

She wanted to ask if it's just hallucinations but she still couldn't speak.

Not until today.

Maureen glanced at the wall clock, stating that it's past eight in the evening. She looked at Yuan who's right beside her, looking at her solemnly.

"Are you already hungry?" Yuan asked as their eyes met.

Maureen instantly nodded as an excuse to break their eye contact. She didn't know why but she feels extremely giddy whenever their eyes meet.

Yuan immediately responded, standing up to grab the food he prepared. Opening the lid, the scent of cooked adobo wafted through her nose. Maureen couldn't help but smile.

Filipino food will always be close to her heart. Yuan is half Chinese but he has grown attached with Filipino food. Within their dates, they would always eat at Filipino inspired restaurants or cook Filipino cuisine as their weekend bonding.

She blinked upon the vivid memory.

So we've really done that together?

She glanced at Yuan who's preparing the food beside her, shaking off her thoughts. She couldn't help but be astonished upon the idea of having Yuan as his fiance and vice versa.

Is this really for real?

"Okay, say ahhhh!" Yuan teased, offering her the spoon. Maureen glared at him which earned a laugh from the latter.

"Grabe ka naman maka-titig. Joke lang eh." Yuan raised his other arm in defense.

Paano ko naging fiance 'tong siraulo na 'to?

Maureen huffed which earned another laugh from the latter. "Siguro kung nakakapagsalita ka lang ngayon, nakakuha nanaman ako ng sermon mula sayo." Yuan wiggled his brows after stating those words.

Just let me eat at peace, dumbass.

"Oh, eto na talaga." Yuan ushered, smiling.

He leaned in, offering the spoon as Maureen became awkward with their closeness. She can feel his breath and his intense gaze upon his move. She also couldn't help but notice how attractive he is with his stubble on.
