Lewis called her again and she knew it wasn't to wish her a safe flight. He'd been talking at her since last night, urging her to change her mind and stay home, without actually coming right out and saying that he wanted her to stay home. With him.
Robyn sighed heavily and ignored the driver's gaze in the rear-view mirror. Her conscience was screaming at her to tell him to take her home, to take her back to her sweet, faithful fiancé, but she told her conscience to shut the fuck up, because this was a business trip and that was all. Just a business trip.
Her suitcase was in the trunk, her passport was in her purse, and she was in a limo on the way to the airport to fly to Bali. With her boss.
The car drove past the main terminals, down a side road, and out onto the tarmac that housed several airplane hangers. The Graham jet was out, and the stairs were down for boarding. She barely registered that the crew was taking her bag and loading it into the cargo hold, or that she should really be getting out of the car until the driver opened her door, and she walked, purposefully, across to the plane. An attendant told her Mr. Graham was running late, but that they should be taking off soon and to make herself comfortable. Robyn nodded and walked up the steps as if boarding a private jet was a regular occurrence for her.
Her jaw nearly dropped when she got a look at the inside of the jet. She'd grown up flying first class, but seeing this now, she decided she'd only ever experienced coach. She sat down in one of the plush, individual seats, and ran her hands over the soft leather.
And then she thought about the man who owned this plane... And she felt her entire body flush. Damn. She had to get out of there. Get away from Him. Before it was too late. What had she been thinking? She stood up. And in that moment she felt only the need to flee, and thought nothing of her career.
She'd just taken a step towards the door when her way was blocked. Apparently it was too late.
He was here already. In all of his intimidating glory.
"Ms. Fenty" Aubrey greeted her smoothly. So clear. So professionally. It was turning on her on. God.
"Mr. Graham" Robyn returned coolly as she sat down politely again in her seat.
Aubrey walked up to take a seat, and his leg brushed her hand where it lay on the armrest. She pulled it away like it was burned her and carefully folded her hands in her lap. He didn't say anything, and neither did she, they only started speaking when they were in the air and started going over business. Always only business.
They arrived in Bali and were taken to the hotel compound where they were shown to an exclusive private villa. Aubrey spoke with the manager in the spacious living room, while Robyn wandered out onto the patio. Aubrey's dark gaze followed her as she went, noting how the wind blew her long black hair around her shoulders. After a few minutes Aubrey dismissed the staff, saying they'd be ready for dinner in an hour, and followed Robyn outside.
Robyn stood at the edge of the infinity pool, but was staring out at the beach and ocean, with eyes wide with awe.
"This is beautiful" she whispered.
A real smile curved his full lips "So glad you approve"
She turned her head towards him with a smirk, and was momentarily mesmerized by one of the most genuine smiles she'd ever seen on his face. He was a very attractive, married man, she could acknowledge that, but when he smiled like that—It did something to her insides.
