I sat up out of my seat, leaving my book on the wooden table beside me.My fluffy ginger cat Daisy didn't stir from her slumber in the sun, under my feet as I shuffled away, her purrs became quieter as I left the porch and headed back inside.
I lived in a small cottage with my two hippie parents, which meant that we didn't have much and relied on eco friendly ways of living.
Although the second hand clothing and short showers were annoying at times I loved both my parents and they loved me.
I got dressed for the day in my usual high waisted denim shorts and my white tank top. I tied the worn out laces of my roller skates that were on my feet into tight knots.
'Don't be out too late tonight.' I heard my mother call from the kitchen.
'I won't.' I called back out, shutting the door behind me and rolling my way down the footpath with ease.
I was heading for my friends party who my other friend Vince and his band would be playing at. Back in High School I dated Vince briefly, but we shortly ended it as we were too good of friends.
I blew a giant bubble of my pink hubba bubba as I skated around the many people shopping on the main street I had just turned on to.
Perks of growing up in a over friendly neighbourhood is that most people knew who you were.
I returned the greetings from the familiar faces I flew passed, picking up speed as I headed down the hill and away from the crowd.
As I rolled in and out of different streets, the sound of Vince's unique singing voice got louder and louder.
I smiled at this, that boy was blessed.
Although I wouldn't tell him this, I didn't want to boast his already massive ego.
Before I knew it I was at my friend Samantha's party, she had rich parents and they always went on vacation, leaving her with the whole mansion to herself.
Meaning wild parties.
I took off my skates and socks, placing them by the front gate and hoping no one would take them.
The crowd of people was bigger then usual and everyone had a red cup filled with liquor in their hand, surrounded by a cloud of cigarette smoke.
It wasn't long till I saw Samantha by the drinks table, talking with another girl.
I ran up behind her, placing my hands over her eyes.
'Guess who.' I teased playfully, winking at the girl she was talking to.
'I would recognise that voice anywhere.' She cheered, spinning around and pulling me into a hug. 'Angela you came!'
I squeezed her tightly. 'You're acting like i'd miss a party!'
She snorted, pulling away and handing me a red cup. 'Yeah you're right, i'm stupid to think you'd miss it. Especially when Vince is singing.'
I nodded and took a sip of my drink, the contents tasted like a mix of different alcohol's and I winced at the unpleasant taste.
'Speaking of Vince, i'm gonna go watch.' I told Samantha, sculling the rest of the contents in my drink and throwing it on the ground. 'I'll see you around.'
I pushed through the sea of people, getting myself a good spot in the corner of the backyard.
I was a good distance from Vince singing but I didn't want to be in the crowd of girls infront of him.
