(Whilst the gang are staying in the abandoned colonial dubbed Shady Belle, Arthur finds that he has finally scribbled to the end of his beloved notebook. Luckily, in the nearby, industrialized city of Saint Denis, there is a quaint little bookstore where the reader works.)

Another day broke over the horizon, the sun's glorious rays spilling down over the Van der Linde Gang's latest encampment.

The very moment that Arthur Morgan had become free of the peaceful shackles of sleep, he sat upright on the small cot. Along with the cot, much of his belongings had been crammed into his rather meager new abode. Most people may have complained about the mere size of the room. However, given that many years of his life have been spent sleeping on a bed roll laid out of the grass, the handsome outlaw wasn't complaining.

After what seemed like an eternity, he had four walls surrounding him and a roof over his head. But given how many times the gang had been uprooted within the past several months, Arthur made sure to enjoy the new, makeshift home while he could.

Swinging his legs over the side of the cot, his calloused hands automatically rummaged through his bag that was constantly slung over his shoulder. His hand then exited the pouch, producing his beloved notebook. Slinging open the front cover of the journal, however, brought the realization that he had finally reached the final page. Just a single page wasn't nearly enough room to produce even a single entry from the literate gunslinger.

"Damn..." Arthur cursed quietly to himself, slinging the journal closed once more before shoving it back into his shoulder bag. Rising from the cot, he stretched out his shoulders slightly before opening the door to his room. Closing it behind him, Arthur turned and headed down the narrow staircase leading to the first level of the dilapidated mansion.

On the first floor of the old colonial house were many items of furniture that had been abandoned by the first occupants. Some of which were an old, completely out of tune piano, a table, several dressers and chairs that were still somewhat sturdy despite their age and appearance.

Arthur walked through the doorway leading into the entryway of the mansion, Mary-Beth being in the small room to his left reading one of her books. Upon catching a glimpse of the man over her reading, a smile came to her face. Rising from her spot on the ground, she held her place in her book with a finger as she approached Arthur.

"Where ya headed, Arthur?" Mary-Beth asked brightly, holding her book in both hands. Before heading out the double doors, he turned to the young woman.

"Just into town, I won't be long." He answered simply. A small thought in her mind wished to ask the man if she could accompany him. But given the short reply, the young woman simply nodded and smiled. "Well, be careful!" Mary-Beth answered brightly, turning on her heels and returning to her reading spot. Arthur gave a small smile and nodded, opening the double door entrance.

He had sometimes heard small rumors about whether or not Mary-Beth had taken a liking to him. However, when it appeared that her and the O'Driscoll boy had gotten close, those rumors were quickly silenced.

The moment Arthur exited the decrepit mansion, he was immediately slapped with the sheer humidity that accompanied camping out in the swamps. Of course, he could feel the humidity being inside, given that many of the windows were broken out. But now, he had much less protection with no battered walls surrounding him.

Thankfully, however, his preferred blue striped, short sleeved button down had provided him just a small amount of relief from the swamp's assault of heat.
