"Do the pink again!" a young blonde girl squealed, poking her best friend. The boy in question scrunched up his face, and in seconds his hair had turned pink. The girl's face lit up at this and she carefully extended her hand out to touch the pink hair, as though convinced that it was not actually there. The boy didn't mind this, for this was about the thirtieth time that he had turned his hair pink for her.
"Teddy! Victoire! Come inside for lunch!" Harry, Teddy's godfather, called. Victoire let go of Teddy's hair and grabbed his hand, pulling him inside the house in Godric's Hollow.
Teddy didn't live here, he was just visiting for a week, but it felt as much like home as his grandmother's house did. And while his grandmother was great to live with, he lived for the weeks he got to spend at his godfather's house, because his godfather was married into the Weasley family. That had been how he had met Victoire, the eldest of the Weasley grandchildren.
Harry knew how well he got along with Victoire, and that his grandmother didn't live near any other children his own age, and so he always made sure to invite Victoire over at least once when he was staying with him. He hadn't been able to stay much yet this year, though, as Ginny, Harry's wife, had just had a baby, and his grandmother told him babies were very hard to live with sometimes.
Teddy and Victoire climbed onto two chairs in the large kitchen area and grinned up at the rest of the people in the room. The table had many familiar faces surrounding it, and each one of them brought happy memories for both Teddy and Victoire. Ron and Hermione Weasley were sat next to Harry and Ginny, Harry's two best friends, who had gotten married. Bill and Fleur Weasley were also at the table, Victoire's parents, though they weren't always here when Teddy was. The last two people sat at the table were Arthur and Molly Weasley, Victoire's grandparents, who Teddy also thought of as his grandparents.
"The pink suits you, Ted," Harry grinned, ruffling the young boy's hair. Teddy blushed slightly, realising he had forgotten to change it back to it's usual blue shade. When he was around Muggles his grandmother always asked him to change it to brown, because Muggles thought it was a bad thing for a seven-year-old boy to have bright blue hair. Teddy didn't really understand it, but she had told him his mother had had to do it too when she was younger and so he had done it too.
Teddy didn't remember his mother and father, but he had been told that they died in a war. Harry had even told him that the same had happened to his parents, and so Teddy didn't let this upset him too much, because Harry seemed to have the best life that anyone could ever ask for.
Teddy tugged on his godfather's sleeves, indicating that he wanted to whisper something. Harry stopped talking to Hermione to lean down.
"Can Victoire please sleepover tonight? I haven't seen her in ages," he said, trying to sound as polite as possible. He felt guilty, it wasn't his house to be inviting people into, as his grandmother had told him, but with Harry having this new baby, Teddy hadn't seen Victoire in several months.
Harry held up a finger, indicating for Teddy to wait a minute and moved over to talk to Fleur. Teddy looked excitedly at his best friend, who seemed to have sensed what was going on. She too was grinning, and Teddy couldn't help but think she had the most beautiful smile in the world.
"Alright, Fleur said that Victoire can spend the night, but she has to leave early tomorrow morning to go visit her other grandparents, so you better get plenty of sleep," Harry warned the pair. The rest of the adults couldn't help but give the children looks of affection as they celebrated their victory together.
As soon as they had finished their lunch, Teddy brought Victoire upstairs to show her his room. While he thought of it as his room, it was really just a guest room which he stayed in every time Harry invited him over. Nonetheless, Harry had still placed a picture frame of Teddy's parents with him as a baby on the bedside locker.
