Nothing could ruin Teddy's mood once he returned to Hogwarts. Now that he was speaking with Victoire again, this left even less time for her to spend with Alex, which he believed was having an impact on their relationship. And though this was stressing Victoire slightly, Teddy couldn't help but feel delighted that she was choosing to spend more time with him than with her boyfriend.
Teddy's friends were also in much higher spirits as he was back to his usual, bubbly self. Emmett continued to go out with Eleanor, who had taken well to his families constant analysis of her relationship over the holidays, and Robert had even managed to secure himself a second date with Sadie.
Of course, this once again posed a serious problem for Teddy, because another Hogsmeade date had recently been announced. Only this time, it really was going to be a romantic one, as it was scheduled for Saturday the 14th of February. This put a slight damper on Teddy's mood as he knew that he would once again be left to spend the day alone in the library.
Teddy remembered this sad fact as he munched on some cereal in the Great Hall on the day in question. His friends loudly spoke about the upcoming Quidditch match between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, oblivious to Teddy's melancholy thoughts. Hufflepuff had already played Slytherin before Christmas and had lost, but only by thirty points, so they were still in the running for the cup as long as they beat the Gryffindors considerably.
"Lupin!" Victoire Weasley had entered the Great Hall and taken a seat beside her best friend. This wasn't very unusual, while people tended to eat within their own houses, house unity had been encouraged following the war, and it wasn't rare to see people switching tables to eat.
"Yes?" Teddy asked, a curious expression on his face. She was wearing a set of casual pink robes which made her look very elegant, he noticed. Her hair had been cut shorter recently, and made her look more mature. It sat delicately on her shoulders, framing her face perfectly.
"Alex can't go to Hogsmeade today. Says he doesn't have a choice, because they have to use today to train for the match," she pouted. While he realised he was supposed to feel bad for his friend as she had probably been looking forward to spending Valentine's Day with her boyfriend, his stomach exploded with excitement.
"Isn't he the Captain? Does he not, like... arrange which days they train?" Emmett asked, deciding against pretending that he had not been eavesdropping. Robert elbowed his friend, giving him a warning look. It was clear that his friends were as excited for him as Teddy was.
"Yeah, I know! I didn't want to nag him about it either, I suppose it's only another day of the year, nothing to get too fussed up over," Victoire said, though sounding as if it was more than a day to her. This time Teddy did actually feel bad, and a burst of anger also erupted in him as he thought about how Alex had chosen to spend a day flying around on a broom when he had the opportunity to take the most stunning girl in Hogwarts on a date.
"I'm sorry, Victoire, that must suck. Are you going with one of the girl's now?" Teddy's question wasn't really a question. It was an opening for him to ask her to spend the day with him, as he was aware that all of her friends had been asked out already. Though he did have a Potions essay that he should really do, he would gladly leave that for tomorrow in place of spending the day with Victoire.
"No, they all have dates today. I wanted to know if you were going to the library? I thought we might study together," she said hopefully. Teddy struggled to stop his face from dropping. She wanted to study? When they could've gone into Hogsmeade together? Teddy felt a kick under the table and Emmett mouthed "ask her" towards him. The blue-haired boy was thankful that Victoire was not looking at his idiotic friend, who did nothing to disguise his words.
