After we got back to the tree house, I found Drew sitting at the bottom of the tree, reading. I kicked his foot and he looked up at me. "Want to go for a walk?" I asked.
"Sure, it's getting late though" he said putting his book to the side as he stood up.
We walked talking I was lost in thought so I hadn't realized Drew had stopped in front of me at the lake. I bumped into him knocking us both in the water. As we climbed onto shore, Drew mumbled about how clumsy I could be. "I'm going to go back, I don't enjoy walking around, soaking wet" he said and walked away.
I simply nodded and continued walking, no destination in mind. I was thinking, remembering my past, the day I got took from my family, and the day I met my family.
I was in an orphanage, sitting in a corner watching everyone around me, my older brother, Jakob, was glancing at me every few minutes. I noticed a man walked in, someone who wanted to adopt. This kid walked up in front of me, "hey loser, your so weak, and lame, no one will ever want you" He said. I was only 7 at the time so I couldn't stand up for myself.
My brother walked over and put a hand on the kids shoulder, "leave him alone shrimp face, he didn't do anything to you". The boy flared at him but walked away. My brother gave me a hug, to show he was there.
The man walked over to us, he told us his name and that he was wanting to adopt us both, so we went with him. When we got to the car I met his son, Zach. We became close, me and Zach. I soon realized the man was a magician, and he let us help in his show, soon we each had our own act.
A few years later, me and Zach were backstage after our act, talking. I liked him then, as more than a brother, and he liked me as well. Then I saw them, the scientists, they approached us. "Joshua Keller? You need to come with us" one of them said.
"No way, who even are you?" I had said, freaking out.
"We are part of the SHCT, and you need to come with us" he said putting a hand on my shoulder.
I tried to run but the magician stopped me, "please Josh, you'll understand later" he said kindly.
I had tried to fight away from them but they hit me with a sleeping dart and I passed out.
I shook my head at the memories. I noticed just how dark it was, it was almost pitch black. I turned around and started to walk back but I tripped and hit my head, passing out.
