Ang kwento ni Manuel Roxas and Jovita Fuentes

Manuel "Manoling" Roxas and Jovita Fuentes were childhood sweethearts in Capiz. The relationship had to take a back seat when Roxas sent to study in Hong Kong. Roxas later moved back to Manila, taking up law at the University of the Philippines, while Jovita was told by her father, Don Canuto Fuentes, to ho to Manila to further her studies.

For a while, Jovita lived with Roxas' old-maid. He brought lansones to his aunts, and also went to their house to watch Jovita play the piano. Before long, the two began dating each other. The relationship lasted for three years but it ended with her not accepting his proposal because he refused to ask her parent for her hand in marriage.

Heartbroken, the two parted ways. Manoling eventually married Miss Philippines Trinidad de Leon, who was the daughter of Sen. Ceferino de Leon of Bulacan.

Jovita, on other hand, traveled and found internation success as an opera singer. She became the first National Artist for Music in 1976, but she never married.
