Chapter One: The Great(ish) Escape

"A boy? You're certain?" Professor Cornelius asked in a hushed tone, eyes focused as Merlin's lithe hands fastening the girth of a saddle.

"I'm sure Professor," Merlin whispered in response as she began to lengthen the saddles stirrups, "I dreamt of it last night, the Queen will give birth to a son in the early hours of the morning. Miraz will order for Caspians assassination - he wants his son to be the sole heir to the throne - if we don't do something, Caspian will die"

"Then we know what we must do - at nightfall meet me at the Prince's chambers, we will go from there"

Prince Caspian the tenth was a clotpole, an incredibly irritating and terribly annoying clotpole. Thats all Merlin could think as she attempted to wake the sleeping boy. She didn't have much time seeing as the Professor still hadn't arrived. He had said that he needed to grab something from his chambers - Merlin rolls her eyes as she can't help but feel as if she was given the dirty work. He was to arrive at any moment and here Caspian was pretending to be asleep. He was being difficult for the sake of being difficult.

"Five more minute's Merlin," he groaned rolling onto his side playfully.

"Caspian, up. Now! We don't have time for this," she hissed, shaking the boy by his shoulders.

Professor Cornelius arrived a wrapped object in his hand, a worried frown etched on his face at the scene he arrived upon. He was quick to aid Merlin in waking the young prince.

"You won't be watching the stars tonight my prince, we must hurry please," the Professor whispered to the boy. He hurriedly tugged the young Prince into the armoire that hid a secret passage.

"You mustn't watch Caspian, we don't have long," Merlin whispered over Caspian's shoulder softly as he eyed his bed through the crack in the two doors.

"What is happening?"

"Your aunt has given birth, to a son," the Professor answered, as several soldiers had barged into the room, sending arrow after arrow into the canopy of Caspians bed. Merlin shook her head as she watched the scene unfold, it was just as she saw it in her dream. She was quick to snatch the boys hand, pulling him down the stairs of the passage in which they stood.

The armoury was quiet, darkness cloaked the room like a fine glove. Merlin aided the prince in fastening his leather undercoat, handing him a sheathed blade. Merlin grabbed a dagger, securing it into her belt before leading the boy to the stables.
