Chapter 11: Dead End
La Luna was surprisingly busy the next sunset. There were barely any open tables, and the podium was constantly abandoned. It made getting a werewolf's attention difficult, I kid you not. Tonight, the majority of the pack was busy doing their job at the moment. I caught sight of Kris Hastings and waved him over. "Hey, Kris."
"T-Toni?" he sputtered. "Wh-what are you two doing-?"
"Where's Odelia?" Henri cut him off sharply, scoping the crowded space filled with supernaturals.
Kris frowned. "You're here to see her?"
"We need to ask her about Mic-" My sentence was abruptly drowned out by a cry of monstrous frustration. A few tables away, a blonde girl with a slight frame stood up, gray eyes of steel honed in on me.
Odelia West, the Manhattan alpha. Or rather, the adopted alpha, since Micah, the true leader, had stepped down.
The teenage were strode toward us, gave Henri a snarky smile, then spoke. "What do you want now? Henri, all I agreed to do was cause a distraction. The pack is done helping."
"Yes, I know," he confirmed softly, his grip on my hand loosening. "This isn't about that."
"I'm not about to sacrifice more of my-"
"We're came to find out where Micah Kane is now. I assume you know his current location?"
Odelia visibly stiffened at the name, and her eyes narrowed into slits. "Why would I care where that fleabag spy is now?"
"He confronted Robert Drake after you discovered his treachery," Henri replied, then sighed. "Isn't that right?"
"Yes, it is," Odelia responded tightly, pushing the straying hair from her youthful face. "Micah was stupid enough to trust that bloodsucker. It's his own damn fault if he got skinned alive."
I frowned, and moved a bit forward, closer to the hostile she-wolf. "You know he's alive, though, don't you? As a part of your pack-"
"He's no longer a part of my pack, haven't you been listening?" Odelia spat, teeth barred slightly in warning. "Didn't your sire warn you not to piss of a werewolf?"
I bit my lip to hold back a hiss of anger and frustration. We were getting nowhere. While Odelia argued, answers could be lost, and I had little time to find them.
"Odelia," I pressed, my voice shaking with what I guessed was impatience. "You know where Micah is, don't you?"
"Why do you suddenly care about his wellbeing anyway? Didn't he kill you?"
"He betrayed me, actually," I corrected. "I still forgive him."
"Really?" That one word held palpable confusion, which I had no reason to take offense to. Even Henri seemed taken aback.
"Micah Kane... " Odelia murmured, losing the hatred in her silver eyes. "Last I heard, he'd moved to Chicago, to join the pack there."
"Come again?" I gaped, eyes widening. Micah... was in Chicago?! What were the chances? I scratched my forehead absently. "So, I'll find him there?"
