CHAPTER 2.2 (Coby)
I already entered two classes and not even a shadow of professor appeared. I should have followed my instict not to attend the first day. I may be sleeping peacefully on my bed right now and not sitting for an hour without doing anything. Sit and wait is my today's game.
This is my last class for today. I'm in a room with fifteen students. Almost thirty minutes of waiting and still, no sign of professor entering to have some introduction thing just to compromise my efforts from waking up early to spending my day sitting for an hour. Everyone here seems friends with each other and I'm the only one alone in the corner.
I really want to call Max but he might be in a class or doing stuffs with his new friends.
This room is the coldest of all. I'm freezing. My favorite hoodie is not with me. I gave it to the guy yesterday I accidentally bumped.
I'm thinking how can I get that back. I didn't even know his name or program or anything about him. All I know is that he's a freshman too.
I look outside from the window of the door. I saw a guy who looks lost. He might be looking for his room. Ow.. speaking of the guy yesterday, it's him. I wave at him in excitement.
He enters the room quietly. There's no professor around. He thought he's late.
I invite him to sit beside me.
"Engineering ka pala?" I say just after he took the seat. Finally, I have someone to talk to.
He nods smiling. Just like yesterday, not saying a word.
"Kanina pa kasi ako mag isa dito, wala akong makausap tapos mukhang magkakakilala na sila." I say without catching a breath. I obviously miss talking.
"Ba't may dala ka nyan?" I ask pointing to his camera strapped on his chest. "Galing ka pictorial?"
He just laugh. Still shy like the first time we met. I don't know if that's a real him or he's just annoyed with me. I can't blame myself for talking too much after waiting for half a day alone.
"Bat pala ngayon ka lang pumasok?" I ask once again.
"Ahh...may inasikaso pa kasi ako" he answers bothered. "Bakit? may mga ginawa na ba kayo kanina?" He asked with a bit of worry in his voice.
"Wala pa nga e" and he looks relieved.
"Picturan mo nga ko, hashtag first day of school" I command. He's too serious and I want to make things lighter here.
He smiles and put his camera on his eyes. I fix my hair a bit, wet my lips with my tongue and smile naturally.
"patingin nga pogi ba ko dyan?" I ask while I extend my neck to see his camera "Oh bat andyan si DeCaprio?" I ask which intends to make him smile out of his serious mood.
He remains speechless. Just a smile I don't know what does it means. It may be a smile that he's happy hearing those or smile that is sarcastic and he's really annoyed with me feeling close to him.
"Send mo sakin 'yan ah!"
"Anong akala mo sa mga photographer libre?" He asks. But good thing, he's smiling. Because if not, I would think he's really pissed.
"grabe ka naman!" I answer
"Joke lang!"
"Send mo na! Pogi pogi ko dyan e, libre nalang kita sa canteen sa baba, masarap daw don yung friend chicken lalo na yung gravy." I invite to give back the favor. I also don't want to eat alone. Having him with me would make my stay here much easier. Having a friend is better than nothing at all.
