CHAPTER 5.1 (Chase)

My heart's beating fast under this hoodie covering my head. Lying down on my arm chair. Can't help but to wait for my name to be called. If only I can turn back the time to make it all alright.

"Acosta! De Jesus! Garcia! at Torres!"

About to stand but my name wasn't mentioned.

"Uulitin ko!" He shouts. And still, No "De Castro" was called.

Without a clue, I look around. I see Coby's quietly laughing at me.

The class has been dismissed. And still, oblivious of what just happened.

Everyone's leaving the room, and so as we. On our way out, Coby told me what really happened.

"Naaalala mo kagabi habang nakaupo tayo sa labas ng building ng library?" He asks. "Hindi ko alam kung anong nasa isip mo at hindi mo na napansing nabasa na yung canister mo."

"Siguro, kung hindi dahil sa ginawa mo, baka ngayon, nagmamakaawa na 'kong humingi ng konsiderasyon sa prof na 'yon. Hindi ko tuloy alam kung pano kita papasalamatan."

"Ako alam ko" he answers smiling.

Fried chicken is not enough make it up with him. But free lunch is all that he wants.

I still can't believe what he have done for me. He can just sleep after arriving home late last night. Drawing a plate is far more inconvenient than just to rest and sleep after a tiring day and doing someone's work is definitey not a choice. But he did. He actually thought of me and it makes me feel.... pretty special.

He have been my saviour since the first time we met. Not thinking that he's one in fault of that epic fail clinic trip but he never let go of me. He even gave me his hoodie which I think is too much.

We got to the canteen but this time, I'm the one who goes to the counter.

While in line, I look at him. He's naturally beautiful just like the first time I saw him.

Universe! I couldn't ask for more. I can't believe you're being this kind to me lately. Just before, I'm just a tribute in Hunger Hames asking for the odds to be in my favor. And now, everything is!

I got our food and go straight to our table.

"Bakit parang may kulang" he says after I put two friend chicken meal and bottled water on our table.

"Hah!? Gusto mo ba ng dessert? Ano bang gusto mo?" I ask

"Hindi!" He answers. "I mean parang may kulang sa'yo" and he nudges his chin thinking what it is. "Ah!" he continues then points at his neck.

Ow. He's referring to my camera that usually strapped on my neck.

"Bakit? Kailangan ba?" I ask after taking my seat.

"Hindi naman" he answers. "Nakakapanibago lang na hindi ko na nakikitang hawak mo 'yon."

"Mabigat na masyado tong T-square at canister para dalhin pa 'yon."

"Hindi mo talaga pwedeng dalhin yung dalawang magkaibang bagay ng magkasabay no?" He looks at me like he's saying more than what he said. Words that brings me to think deeper. "May dadalhin, meron ding maiiwan. Nasa sa'yo nalang kung anong panghahawakan mo." he continues and drinks without withrawing his look on me.

I don't know what to say. I just continue to eat. Acting normal to keep the conversation just usual.

But honestly, I have my camera with me. It's in my newly rented locker. I really want to leave it in my room but I just can't help myself. That camera is with me since highschool and it really bothers me whenever I'm away from it.
