After a few months more of the warlocks throwing their magic, a warlock contacted the institute through a fire message telling them that they would meet with the shadowhunters to discuss the reasons behind what they were doing and to see what the shadow hunters could do to make them stop. The meeting would be with the High Warlock of Brooklyn.
Today, Aldatree, the head of the institute, was going to brief them on what was going to happen. Once everyone was there and the main room was full of people he walked up to where everyone gave speeches and began give his speech.
"Hello everyone, responding to the fire message that was sent to the institute a few days ago, we will be sending one member, and one only, from the institute to see what the warlocks want"
"Don't you think it would be smart to send more than one shadowhunter in in case it's an ambush?" Yelled someone around him
"No we cannot. Obviously it would be ideal to send more than one shadowhunter in, however, in the fire message the warlock said specifically that if more than one shadow hunter goes in they will be killed on sight." he answered
"So that's our plan then" yelled a woman from the crowd "send a shadow hunter in to see a powerful, unpredictable warlock with no backup?"
"No, we do have a plan. As the meeting is taking place in his apartment our plan is to get the shadow hunter who goes for the meeting to get him to drink a sleeping potion. We will be waiting a little while away and then when he or she knocks him out we will swoop in and take him into custody. Then once we have their leader it shouldn't be hard to get the other warlocks who helped him with the attacks in to custody as well"
"Ok who will be going to this meeting exactly?"
"In the Fire message he sent us he said that the shadow hunter to come had to be eighteen or under. As Alexander Lightwood is the oldest one in that category he will be the one to go, if that is ok with him" everyone turned and glared at him. He turned beet red.
"Yes sir" i would be honoured
"Good, thank you Alexander." Alec nodded and knew that it was the right decision to send him in because otherwise it would be Jace or Izzy and although Alec loved them both to pieces they were not very good with subtlety and would probably be blasted to a thousand pieces before they even tipped though the door.
"You are dismissed, except for you mister Lightwood. Please stay behind so I can explain it more."
Everyone cleared from the room. Alec walked up to Aldatree. He explained everything he needed to know about the meeting with the warlock.
"The meeting is happening tomorrow morning at 11am you have to be there with no weapons and no stele. Before you go in we will give you the sleeping potion. This man will certainly check to make sure you don't have anything on you so the potion will be poured into a bottle of whine before you go in, after just one sip he should instantly fall to the ground enabling us to capture him." He kept talking but Alec began to think about something else. It wasn't anything specific just a bunch of scattered thoughts about many different things. The next day at around 10:30 Alec met with Adatree outside the apartment block the warlock said he would meet Alec in. Aldertree handed Alec a bottle of whine telling him that the potion had already been poured into the potion so all Alec had to do was get the warlock to drink form it.
After handing the bottle over to Alec, Aldertree began to repeat what he had said the previous day
Adding that Alec would have to make sure that the bottle was handed to the warlock before he used his magic to check for weapons so that his magic wouldn't pick up the potion. Alec nodded. He then gave Alec the Fire message so he could have proof that they had received it and that he was who he said he was.
He walked to the entrance of the building an opened the door. He walked in and looked down at the note. Floor 7 apartment b the letter said. He pushed the gleaming silver button to call the elevator. He could hear the machine sliding down, then it went ding and the doors slid open. He stepped inside and pressed the 7 0n the buttons and the doors slid closed. The elevator went up. Second floor, third floor, forth floor, fifth floor, sixth floor, and then after what felt like eternity he got to the seventh floor and the doors opened with another ding. He walked out and heard the doors slide closed behind him rolling away. He walked past apartment 7A and arrived and 7B. He walked up to it and knocked on the door.
The warlock who answered was the one Alec had seen with the sparkley clothes and rings, the one with the spiked hair full of glitter.
"Hello" Alec said "I am the representative shadow hunter from the New York institute, I am here regarding your fire message you sent recently" Alec brought the piece of paper up and showed the warlock. He took it from Alec looked t it for a moment and then there was a blue flash and the piece of paper was gone. Magic.
"Hello, my name is Magnus, Magnus Bane. And you are?"
"Alexander Lightwood"
"Hello mister Lightwood"
"Hello" Alec said. He brought up the bottle of whine and offered it to the warlock. He took it.
"Here, as a sort of I guess peace offering in hope that you don't hurt me while I am here."
"No one is going to get hurt on my end during this meeting mister Lightwood we are just going to kindly discuss how to proceed, however before you go in, would you mind if i just used a little magic to make sure you don't have any weapons on you?"
"No, no go right ahead." Alec Answered. Magnus brought his hand up and his blue magic crackled at his fingers. A small blast came towards Alec and brushed over him. It was a very tingly feeling. After the warlock was done he put his hand back to his down to his side, still holding the bottle of whine.
"You are clean you can may come in if you would like" Magnus opened his door so Alec could step inside his apartment, it was quite large and very decorated. Very sparklie. As Alec stepped through the door he nodded his thanks to the warlock.
"You can take a seat where ever you may like, Ill just go put this in some cups," he held up the whine bottle "would you like some"
"Yes thanks" Alec answered knowing that if he refused it would seem suspicious. Magnus walked off into the kitchen. Alec walked around for a minute or so and then sat himself on a lounge next to the dining room table. When he came back out he sat himself on a lounge chair opposite Alec and handed him his whine. Alec thanked him. He held the cup to his lips and poured back the cup making sure to keep his lips pressed tightly together to keep the drink from going into his mouth. He watched as Magnus poured back the liquid and sat the cup back on the table. He immediately began to spasm and then fell to the ground eyes shut. Alec stared from a moment or so before gathering himself and walked over to the window as he had been instructed to do and yelled out to his colleagues hiding behind the trees. All the mundanes from the ground below turned around to see what was happening and looked up at Alec. They stared at him and then in the direction of where he was yelling. As all the shadow hunters hiding down below were all glamoured and invisible to the mundane eye they all stared back at Alec and looked at him as though he were crazy.
Aldertree gave him the thumbs up and they rushed across the road and all 10 of them poured into the building. A few moments passed until Alec could hear the sliding of the elevator coming up, up, up and then he heard the ding as the elevator doors slid open. He heard the doors close and they closed the door to the apartment opened and they all came pouring in. They grabbed the warlock and began to bring him to his feet, but before they got him up his magic sparked at his fingers and magic came pouring out. First he went for the two shadow hunters holding him and they fell to the ground unconscious.
"Did you really think I wouldn't notice the scent or the look of a sleeping potion, i am a warlock, a very old one at that and i can very easily tell the difference from whine and a potion, and of course a spiked bottle of whine." he sparked his magic again as two more of the shadow hunters came charging at him and before they had taken three steps, they too fell to the ground.
"Anyone else?" He said. With six remaining shadow hunters, plus Alec, left their odds of getting this powerful warlock down were beginning to dwindle. They all stayed where they were. "Ill tell you what" he began "i am willing to let all of you if you leave one here. One shadow hunter for the rest of you. You can take the unconscious, and no they are not dead, I am no that cruel, you can carry them all out of here and you can all leave with your lives if you leave one here: leave one behind. I will not harm them, however they will to be able to leave."
Everyone but Alec looked around at each other and nodded, in unison four of them pulled out a seraph blade and slammed it down into the ground so it cracked the floor and after all four of them had slammed them down a blazing blue shot out from them and created a sort of blue box around the warlock trapped inside. His face immediately changed from smug and happy to grim and shocked. He ran at the place where on the walls to the box stood, but just got, what looked like, a very strong electric shock for his efforts, and fell to the ground.
"The Fibonacci configuration" Aldertree said. "Built to hold greater demons, so you can be an all powerful, old warlock but you cannot escape it." A man from behind the seven standing shadow hunters walked up and swirled around his hands, blazing with red magic, and a portal opened and came toward the cage the warlock was now trapped in as well as to all the shadow hunters and they instantly stood in one of the underground cells. Not the new ones an old one that most people didn't even know about. One buried right below the institute. The shadow hunters walked up to the blazing blades and pulled them out of the ground. A couple of them ran down to the still unconscious warlock and put chains, covering his hands, that were stuck to the wall, to stop him from using his magic. They picked up the unconscious shadow hunters and walked out of the cell. Alec following, staring down at the warlocks body curled up on the cold ground. When everyone was out of the grimy cell Aldertree closed the door with a screech and locked it with a very old looking key.
"We now have the leader of the warlocks in our clutches everyone" Aldertree said addressing the people standing in the dark outside the cell "now all we have to do is send a message to the other warlocks saying that if the attacks continue and if they do not hand themselves in, their leader will be killed for them to watch. Easy peasy." Or so they thought, and the all walked out of the dungeon
