It was November now and Callum and Rayla had been friends and squad mates for a while now. The first game they ever played together was Apex Legends and they were both amazing at it. Both of them kept getting squad wipe after squad wipe and in Callum's opinion it was the coolest thing ever. Every game they played they kept dropping win after win. Fortnite, they put up 90's like it was nothing and in dead by daylight just killer DC after killer DC. It was fun and he enjoyed it. "The ancient meme was wrong for I have indeed found a good teammate," he thought. She was the first friend he had ever had and he enjoyed her company. Even though the glares continued, it was more bearable. He was debating whether or not to tell her about his powers but every time he was about to, he got cold feet. He was walking down stairs to hear Ezran's Saturday song that he was singing with bait. They had a three day weekend and Ezran was showing his excitement or more accurately, singing it. "Good morning Ez," Callum said.
"Good morning Callum," Ezran said. "Any plans this weekend with a certain someone?" He winked. Callum immediately started blushing. He regretted telling Ezran about her because Ezran said he spoke about her with admiration and was always very accurate in his descriptions. Ezran's words not his.
"Wh What do you mean," he stuttered. Truth be told he knew exactly what he meant. He and Rayla had been friends for a while and while Ezran had never actually met her, Callum had told him plenty and that was accompanied by his younger brother's teasing. He had grown to like her and he had given it some thought. She was an amazing person and she had been the first non family person to treat him as if he wasn't a nuclear bomb with a brain or half a brain, according to Kasef but there were too many complications. First off, if he did ask her out and she said no, then he could lose the only friend he had. Two, she still didn't know about his powers and three, he had zero knowledge or experience in this area.
"You know perfectly well what I mean," Ezran said.
"Universal Pull," said Callum. Ezran came flying over to him and Callum proceeded to give him a noogie. "What if I told you I did have plans?"
Ezran laughed and replied, "I'd call BS because I'd have heard about it before hand and we both know your too scared to ask."
"Fair enough," Callum said.
"Ask Rayla out Callum. You won't know how she feels until you ask and maybe tell her about your powers too." "What's the worst that could happen?" Ezran asked.
"Well she could say no and I could lose my only friend over this because I don't know if you noticed but most people are afraid of me or hate me because of my powers and that is just because of rumors." Callum responded. He was actually very afraid of what would happen if Rayla found out and he played out scenario after scenario and most of them ended badly.
It was now Ezran's turn to give his brother advice. "If she is really your friend then that won't happen Callum now get your phone and ask her out." Callum chuckled. Ezran was a really great brother. He might tease him a lot but he always helped him out. Harrow appeared then with a tool box.
"Callum my partner needs help fixing something in his apartment and I need your help." Harrow is a police officer and that is how he met Callum's mom. They were both at the scene of a suspected arson fire. Callum considered the event perfect timing since the tension in his stomach was really high at the moment.
"Sure I'll help." said Callum. Ezran turned and looked at him with visible disappointment.
"You better do what I told you to do after your done," said Ezran.
"I will Ez I will Ok," Callum said still blushing. They went down a floor and stopped by a room labeled 237. Callum and his family lived in 313. "Wait, your partner lives here?" Callum questioned.
