"Happy birthday day! Happy birthday! Birthday to you!, Ratata"
I opened my eyes to see my dad and Nico singing happy Birthday to me, they had party hats on and were dressed already.

"Morning Dad, morning Nico" I yawned as I greeted them. I looked over at my alarm to see it was 4:30! How could they have woken up so early?!

"Happy birthday Hazel, hurry up and get dressed I've made us breakfast" my dad said as he exited the room to make us hopefully pancakes. Nico looked over at me
"Why are we so early?" I asked, he shrugged

"I dunno. It was fathers idea. Have you checked for your soulmate tattoo?" He asked
I looked at his cheek and realized he hadn't cover his soulmate tattoo yet. A Red Cross. I was finally 14 and would get my first soulmate tattoo today!

"No I just work up, idiot" I said as I walked over to my mirror to check. "Anything?"
I shook my head "Nothing"
My soulmate tattoo hadn't appeared yet. Maybe it'll appear later in the day. I was worried if my soulmate was Sammy, He was my childhood crush who had sadly passed away 3 years ago in a house break in. Nico walked over and looked at his soulmate tattoo. "Gods I hate this thing, why couldn't it appeared on my shoulder or something?"

I looked at him. "Why do you hate it so much?" I looked at his right hand that had a sun on it. He covered that too with some fingerless gloves. He shrugged carelessly and said "I guess I don't like the idea of some random force picking who You're meant to be with. What if I don't like them? Or they don't like me orrrr I'm not good enough for em?"

I smiled at him "Nico who couldn't like you? Once you let someone in that brick wall of yours they see how amazing you are! and who knows? Maybe they're stalking you right now"
Nico rolled his eyes and laughed
"Yeah yeah whatever, I'll go cover this little beeyotch up" he said pointing at the tattoo in his cheek "By the way there's a surprise in ye closet for you" he said and walked out.

I looked in the mirror, and the things Nico said I couldn't help but think about. 'what IF my soulmate doesn't like me?' What if he's disappointed that I'm his soulmate? What if not enough for him?' I shook my head. What am I thinking?! They're Your soulmate! They're gonna love you!....right?
I sighed and walked over to my closet. Opened it to find a pair of clothes. A plan purple shirt and some blue-ish overalls. I got changed and head down stairs.

Nico was already down there eating a stack of pancakes and my dad was decorating a cake.
I dramatically stepped in "Hello fam. The birthday girl- has arrived"

I bowed while Nico clapped. "Happy birthday sweetheart. 14! The big day eh? Gotten your tattoo yet?" Dad asked as he looked at his soulmate tattoo. It was a flower crown on his wrist.

"No dad not yet." I said as I started drowning my pancakes in honey. Nico looked over at me but asked no question nor made any comments.

"I cleared up my schedule this morning so I'll be driving you kids to school!" Dad said as he started lighting the candles up.
"You mean Jules will drive while you're in the back seated with us?" Nico said while trying to take the honey away from me. >:(
"Well yes. But it's the thought that counts. Right?" Dad shrugged as he walked over with the cake. "Make a wish sweetheart!"

I closed my eyes and thought about what to wish for. :0 'I wish to meet my soulmate today magic force' I blew the candles while Nico clapped again in the back
"What ya wish for hazel?"
I gasped at him " I can't tell you! Or else my wish won't come true! You know that! >:("
Nico and dad chuckled at me and I stated cutting out the cake. "Is it chocolate?"
Dad nodded and I got myself a big piece.

After breakfast we got in the car and started talking until dad got a call.
"Hey Nico? Who do you think my soulmate is?"
Nico looked at me "I dunno Hazel. Maybe Sammy? Maybe that's why you haven't gotten your tattoo yet?" He said. I felt my face melt. If Sammy WAS my soulmate....

"Sorry kids, that was the police department, And Hazel im sure your soulmate is someone nice darling." Dad said as he ended his call. Nico looked over at him with a thumbs up.
We were nearing the school ground and I looked over at Nico. Something in his eyes changed, that bright spark in them faded as we got closer. And his face got shaper then before, like he was a different person.

"Bye dad! Bye Jules!"
"thank you Jules, goodbye father." Me and Nico got off and started heading to our lockers, we were half an hour early -_-
