I set the bags down on the counter and started to sort through everything, and try to put the item away in its rightful place. I opened up cupboards, looking, but I didn’t get that far before Cole walked in.
He was smirking a bit, “Dude, just go to Cass. She’s been whimpering since you left.”
Now, I couldn’t help but smirk. "Cass Pendery has been whimpering?”
Cole just started laughing, then stopped and looked at me straight-faced. "Yeah… weird, right?”
“It is, and I’m going to find out why.” I stated.
I walked out of the kitchen then hiked up the stairs, two at a time, and went to her room. She was lying on her bed, reading a magazine, trying to ignore Em and Soph’s comments. She was wearing sweats now, ice placed over her knee. I’m going to guess it’s wrapped up underneath her sweats.
“I can’t believe you, two, still haven’t done the deed!" Soph exclaimed. "Will and I have!”
“Seriously, Cass! How are you not dying?” Em asked, a bit sarcastically.
Cass continued to look at the magazine, seeming to be interested in something.
I sat down next to her and asked jokingly, “Taking a quiz to see if your man is the perfect boyfriend?”
She made a small laugh. "I don’t need to take a quiz. I already know mine's not.” She laughed even more when she saw my dropped jaw. She added, “Because you’re not perfect and that’s why it works.”
I couldn’t help but smile. “Same to you. You really need to watch where you’re going.”
“Says the one who ran a cart into someone else’s while not paying attention.” She fought back.
I stuck my tongue out at then turned my attention to Em and Soph. "Hey, ladies.”
“Hey." Both of them said. They laughed because they spoke at the same time.
I made a small eye roll and asked Em, “So, how bad is her knee?”
“She’ll be healed by tomorrow, but I told her not to walk for a couple of days.” Em replied, eyeing Cass.
Cass rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out at Em.“You know I can’t stay still for that long.”
“I can carry you anytime you want to go somewhere." I stated. I’m not kidding. I’d carry that girl anywhere. Even if it was all the way to fucking China.
That got her to laugh a bit." You don’t have to. I think I can handle it.”
“Is that a bet?” Cole asked, coming into her room with a smirk.
She smirked right back. “You really wanna go down that road again?”
He pointed a finger at her. “It’s not like I knew Soph was actually someone you could get along with.”
“Wait, you guys had a bet over me?” Soph asked, seeming a bit shocked.
Cass shrugged. “Yeah.. just to see if I could get along with you. Nothing big.”
“Huh…” She nodded. "I would've done the same.”
“Over yourself?” Cass raised a brow.
Soph scoffed. “Pff yeah! I can hardly stand myself at school. I don’t blame you for making that bet.”
“Yeah, speaking of bets. What about this one?” Cole pushed, snapping his fingers.
Cass made a heavy sigh. “Why not? Just Double CC this time?”
