Everyone says she is pious because she wears hijab or niqaab, he is pious because he wears thobe and has beard, but do we not know the piety and becoming pious starts not on our physical appearance but within our hearts?
I don't know but it's been a trend everywhere that somehow this thought discourages our brothers and sisters in Islam who doesn't wear as pious clothes as others do.
Remember, not because you wear more modest clothes, you are in higher level, we all are struggling, we all are being tested in our own ways, the dawah should be given in the most sincere way, not on such a harsh and insulting way.
There's so many things out there that show how hijab should be fashionable how thobe should be swag looking how this should be look cool, and us degrading or making these people doesn't help, remembering giving dawah doesn't give you instant change from someone, dawah is not a one day talk, it is a continuous job that every da'ee has to do and I mean every Muslim here.
ENCOURAGE. Not DISCOURAGE.
It is only when we think we are pious enough that we start to fall into sins as we start to degrade others and think that we are "more" pious than them, let me tell you a story about 'Aishah Radiyallahu Anha.
After the death of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam, indeed the Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum took 'ilm and advices from 'Aishah Radiyallahu Anha.
One day a man came to 'Aishah and asked her: "When will I know that I am pious?
She said: "When you realize that you are a sinner".
He said: "And when will I realize I am a sinner?"She replied: "When you think you are pious."
_____Indeed, a brain that has no remembrance and mention of Allah Azza Wa Jall is easily tricked by Shaytaan.
Stop thinking you are pious because you are are able to do something that someone else couldn't do [in regards to the deen].
Always remember that what these people you are giving dawah to are going through, you once went through it.
Every pious had a past and every sinner has a future. Always remember that.
You have to aim to be pious, put it in your heart, not on your brain.
______And we pray that we learn from this story from 'Aishah Radiyallahu Anha, may we all find that lighting guidance from Allah Azza Wa Jall through humility and abundant dhikr. Amin
